Ok, I have a dark bown/faded black colour on my hair and I want to dye it a red colour. Is there any way I can do this without having to bleach my hair and without doing it profesionally?? Im desperate for a new hairdo! (=

It depends on what kind of red you are going for. If you want a vivid red then there is not option but to bleach it first, if you are after a more subtle look put it on your hair as it is now. If you live in the UK try a Live Colour one, the reds are really good and it should show on top of your current hair colour. You don't need to have it professionally don, I've always been disappointed when I' had my hair dyed professionally but love it when I do it myself.

well, what kind of red are you going for? like fire engine red, or a natural looking red. if you want the outstanding bright red, you're definetely going to need to use some bleach to lighten your hair. If you want just a natural reddish color, you can try putting it over the dark hair, it'll be a dark red, but red nonetheless.

Red is probably the hardest color to get toned right and to try over old black tint is asking for heartache. If you want a new hairdo go for the new "do" but don't go for color unless you go to a salon and get some streaks in red. Good luck

i dont think there would be a problem with going to red... like, how red do u want it? red red, or like a dark red. i think i would go with...a purplish look. i would do it that way and work my way down to the color u want. but i dont know if there is a major difference like that from black hair to blonde, u know?

i've got had pink hair and it grew to become into actual eye-catching! it is actual something you may desire to do professionally even with the undeniable fact that, its stressful to cover brown with pink by utilising your self, the brown likes to peek with the aid of. It fades very quickly to. I had no subject getting my hair lower back to brown, specific it had to be dyed lower back because of the fact your hair keeps a reddish tinge.

No you will need a bleach bath on your hair. And they cause loads of damage to your hair there is no way round it and its always better to get your hair done by the pros. A change like that could wreck your hair if you do it yourself. I know i did things like it and now am a hair dresser.
