If she is in pain and there is no way to control it, it's better to put it down, then let it live in pain. If she isn't eating, she is either elderly, or she is ill. What do the bowel movements look like, are they firm, or runny without substance? If she starts to lose control of her bladder, or rectum, it's time. If she overall doesn't appear happy, and is lethargic, it's time.

That is a tough question to answer. You need to consider age, health, your finances and is the dog in pain. Try not to be selfish and think of your dog ONLY. It is a tough thing to put down a pet, but often it is the right thing to do. I was very close to putting my cat to sleep about 4 years ago. I spent a couple thousand dollars on him and it was agonizing financially and emotionally. I feel that I made the right decision, today he is 17 years old and healthy. If money is a problem, look for a humane society, an aspca or an understanding doctor. They can come up with payment plans as they did for me. Most important, don't be selfish. Do what is best for your pet. GOOD LUCK!!

It's hard to make that decision. But my rule of thumb has been this. If the animal is suffering and has no quality of life, it's time to do the humane thing and have it put down.
Check with the vet, sometimes meds help, and if so, you have more time with your pet. If not, you tried, now it's time to let go. I have had to put down 3 pets over the years. I had a very good vet. We brought the animal into a private room, rested it's head in my lap, or on the table and I moved down so I could look into it's eyes, petted and talked to it till it drifted off to sleep. At that point you can have the vet take care of the remains, or, as in my case, we brought a box for him, placed him in it, took it to our pre picked location and buried it with a marker.
Good luck with a tough decision.

I know it's a hard choice to make. What you need to do is try to see things threw your dogs eyes. Try to imagine what your quality of life would be like if you were in the same situation. Would you want to end your suffering if it was you? She can't do the things that she would love to do anymore. I know that if it was me in your dogs shoes I would want to be put out of my misery and go to a place where I would nolonger feel any pain or discomfort. Thats just me. You need to do what you feel is best for the dog. It's probably one of the hardest choices in life to make. Give your dog lots of love and try to capture the few memories that you have left with her. Spoil her rotten and you'll know when the time has come. Give her lots of hugs and kisses. Good luck

You should take her to the vet... Also the weather is changing so the heat can make them a little lazy.... About the 3 legs dog usually don't mind a missing leg.

well, u could take her to the vet, and she what the vet says. if the vet says she is in a lot of pain, i would advise u to put her down. would u rather let ur dog live a life of pain, or put her out of her misery, pain and suffering???? the decision is totally up to u. i mean, it could simply just be arthritis. i would get it checked by a vet, before u make ur decision. hope this helps

The answer will be in her eyes to you. You will not want to see that answer, but it is there. Ask someone else to look into her eyes.
and those eyes will never be the same after you put her in the car. Dogs know that means... VET!

It's so hard. make the trip, just you and her only.

What did the vet say? Older dogs need regular check-ups as well as geriatric blood work done to detect problems early. Get her to the vet to find out what's going on with her.

Take the dog to your vet. A reputable vet will not put a dog down if there is any chance of curing what ails it.
