Only if they ask.

I try to follow the example of Jesus and St. Paul, who first developed relationships with people. Then they presented what they wanted to impart inside the context of the relationship.

Merely spouting off between the gills isn't going to do it.

Witnessing is a must for a Christian. You have to wait for the opportunity to come along though, so you do not come off sounding like you are being judgemental. When the opportunity does come along, you testify to what God has done in your life. That is so much more effective, especially with old friends that have not seen you since you were born-again. When they see a big difference in you, it means so much more. This is especially true if you were really into the party life, getting high, drunk, etc. all the time.
When they see that God worked a miracle in your life, then they will see, even if it is only deep inside of their heart, that there is a chance for their life, too.

Of course I don't do that. I do not meet someone and immediately ask if he/she is a Christian.
I have close friends who aren't Christians, and I don't preach to them or try to win them over. I let them Know I am a Christian, and I let my life speak for itself. I SHOW them.
Actions speak louder than words.

To me, Christians who go around evangelizing are a turn off.

I try to do my witnessing through my life, my attitude, the way I conduct myself. If someone asks me about what I believe, I will happily oblige -- but I wait until they ask. I can quote The Bible all day long, but a person has to WANT to listen.

Also, I try to respect the paths that other people have chosen for their lives. I can share my experiences, but its not my place to tell someone that the religion they follow is wrong.

Never. Why would I do any of those things? It would be an invasion of their privacy.

By the same token, I would resent and rebuff any attempt on their part to proselytize me to atheism or agnosticism, or to undermine my faith in Christianity .

Why can't we leave each other alone? Where does this irresistible impulse to butt into other people's lives come from? Have we become a nation of busybodies?

Yes. I talk to my non Christian friends about God. I never try and force them to accpet my religion however. I wait for them to ask me about it. It never takes long. I'm always carrying around a Bible and reading it in my spare time plus I wear a cross around my neck. I've never had a non Christian friend who hasn't questioned me about my faith. When they do I answer their questions directly and honestly. If they seem interested in finding out more I invite them to church. If they refuse, I don't push it. Though I might ask them again later on if they seem to be growing in interest. Usually they say yes.

Yes. I am atheists, and I find that usually Christians only try to inform me about their religion because in their religion, if you do not believe in god you will go to hell. They just care. Unfortunately it rarely comes around as that. Yes. It bothers me. Yes. I wish they didn't do it, but what can you do. They only care.

-(Just my experience)

Coming from a pagan:

I'm sorry. Every christian who does that crap to me immediately gets glared at or ignored. I know what the christians believe. It's not for me... and I'm glad to be out of it.
