In the UK the term semi-permanent is a big fake fad among the cosmetic tattoo artists because many are under-trained and use bad equipment so the tattoo does not last long - it is an excuse for poor work.

Tattooing goes into the DERMIS and lasts there permanently. Even if the color fades dramatically the pigment molecules are still present in the skin there. Tattooing into the EPIDERMIS is useless since that layer of skin sheds and renews regularly - approximately every 30 days in young healthy skin. No one is able to successfully ONLY tattoo into the epidermis as previously stated.

Nope, it isn't possible. Thats a scam, once the ink enters the second layer of epidermis (skin) its not going to go without lazer surgery. Tatoo artists who claim to be able to are either lying, or idiots.
Here is why:
In order to have a mark that will fadaway completely, it either has to remain on-top of the first layer, or within the first layer. That requires surgical precision. Also, any ink that does go there is not going to be all beautiful, it will be blotchy (think of dropping a tiny drop of ink on a napkin, and you'll see what I mean)

There is no such think as a needle-applied semi-permanent tat. The best you can go is henna, and just re-apply.

There is no such thing as a semi-permanent tattoo. Even the ones people say will fade in a few years are a scam. For more information, visit:

Your best bet would be a henna tattoo.. it can last a few weeks.

Dont know about 2-6mths, but i had semi-permanant tattoo and was told would fade after 3-4yrs.It still vibrant and no signs of fading....a tattooist told me that if the needle goes through layer of skin it will be permanent...try a henna tattoo as its painted on and no needles are used.
