In my informal empirical study conducted each weekday day in a major downtown area, they seem to take the latter choice every time.

Being that Jesus himself was a homeless person, what can we make of this (if anything)?

Once a homeless person asked me for money, and I gave him a PBJ sandwich instead. He complained that he wanted a ham sandwich instead, as the he had no dental, and the jelly had sugar. He had a point, but hey, that was my lunch! Beggars should not be so whiny.

I have no idea what this story has to do with your question, but I thought that I would answer my own question here anyway as your questions seemed silly.

I'm a Christian with a home and I'd take the $5. Jesus was an evangelist. Wasn't homeless. Travelled and preached. People took him in. Just like my dad...an evangelist. He had a trade so if it ever came down to it he could earn himself a pretty penny. He chose a life of modesty to convey his love for the poor. That's it. He's the son of God for Christ's sake. Anyway, can't make anything of this except for the fact that a homeless person is only concerned about eating...not reading. $5 buys a meal. A pamphlet...something to wipe with. God Bless!

To me, the most retarted question posted by an athiest are the troll ones. I won't copy any because there are many on this site. Besides trolls, I dont really know of any "stupid" serious questions asked by atheists but there are some annoying ones that are posted a lot. 1. If you there really is a God then why don't you prove it? The answer is simple, we can't. We have faith and believe there is one. Just the same as you have to believe there isn't one. Many athiests are annoyed that we answer back, prove there isn't one. Of course, annoyed atheists argue back you can't prove a negative. Therefore, we shrug and say, your the one that asked the annoying question in the first place! lol.

I think both should be considered. The homeless are physically and spiritually broken people.

Our Missions take care of the physical needs first and then the spiritual. But knowing human nature, I would say they would take the $5.00

If they were wise, they'd take the pamphlet- because in no time the 5 dollars will be spent, but if the homless person were to give their heart to the Lord, they would be eternally blessed.

I got handed a Scientology leaflet last week when I wasn't paying attention. I wish it was $5. Even though I'm not homeless.

To "Opinionated" -- Hey! Great idea! I'll have to do that with 5-Turkish-lira notes! THAT'd get their attention! (Let's see -- what's the going exchange rate for Turkish Lira today...?)

Oh, rats!! Turkey's just re-valued their currency. Forget that. Go with Ghanian Cedi, instead. I cedi per tract.

Maybe homeless people need their own gangs of apostles hovering around them. Y'know, for protection and to help keep 'em warm on chilly evenings, and to spare a cigarette every now and then...

okay... they are homeless which most likely means they are broke. So 5 bucks would provide a meal or something. And I would think most homeless people don't care about religion, that God has abandoned them (which He hasn't).
