Does this imply that he was her sister?
Ancient Egyptian royalty married their sisters to continue their bloodline. And obviously the sons of Adam and Eve had to have relations with their sisters...
Just an observation.

And I'm sorry, I reread it and meant to say "Does that imply she was his sister."
Confusing stuff, eh?

Also, I don't think this implies that they are husband and wife, because and husband and a wife is a legal relationship, not a blood one.

That is a VERY good point and Lot... all human societies have taboos about incest, but mainly they view incest as between parent and child. So the fact that Lot's daughters got him drunk and made him impregnate them is abhorrent even more than siblings.

I recently heard an explanation that it symbolized the man and woman were of the same species, and also that women and men are incomplete without each other.

To think about that all men and women came from one common pair,(Adam & Eve) is not unreasonable.
You see man was originally created perfect and was commanded to procreate and fill the earth and subdue it.
So taking earthly sisters in marriage was not at that time harmful to the human family? Only after falling into sin and imperfection did the problem begin to start and then it was hundreds of years. It seems that after the flood of Noah's day and then men started not living in lifespan as long as Adam did that these things effected mankind more frenquently.
Accordingly, it took a long time for genetic defects to become so numerous and so grouped in family lines that it became dangerous to the offspring for close relatives to marry. Even Abraham, some 2,000 years after the creation of Adam, married his half sister. (Gen. 20:12) Not until God gave the Mosaic law (about 500 years later) did He prohibit close family marriage unions among the people of Israel.—Lev. 18:6-18.

Yes they must have shared a common DNA. The bible says in Genesis that they went to the land of Nod to find their wives, no one has ever been able to explain that to me in an acceptable way. Lot conceived children by his daughters after his wife was turned to a pillar of salt because she looked back at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah while they were fleeing the destruction. The crowned heads of Europe have partaken of incest many times for the sake of the continuance of bloodline. It goes on and on, but personally I think that I would rather do without than commit incest.

Well, if Adam and Eve were the first humans on Earth, then the law of marriage wasn't even established yet. They were made as man and wife, but only God knows the details...

We are all related as we are all sons and daughters of God. We are all brothers and sisters. so if you look at it like the world does, that means we all commit incest if we participate in sexual relationships at all. But since that is the case, obviously God does not view it as incest :)

No, it doesn't imply that he was her sister. Perhaps reading the passage in Genesis will set the record straight...

Gen 1:26-28

26 Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image and likeness. And let them rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the tame animals, over all the earth, and over all the small crawling animals on the earth."

27 So God created human beings in his image. In the image of God he created them. He created them male and female. 28 God blessed them NCV

It goes on to say that Adam is put into a deep sleep (Gen. 2:21) and a rib is removed. Rib in Hebrew means the other side. Adam was neither male nor female until God separated woman from man.

Hope that helps!
