tell Larry his food is in the bowl.....but leave it empty and don't let him see the bowl either.
If he wags his tail and tries to run toward the bowl, Larry believes in a god.
If he turns his head and gives you a strange look, Larry is an Atheist.

I assume you've taught Larry to "sit." Now try to teach him to "kneel." If he can't do it---he's probably an atheist.

If he obeys, loves, and is basically a content and well fed dog, then he does believe in a higher power, and that would be you. Make sure you're a kind and benevolent deity ^.^
