It doesn't hurt all that bad. I like the top piercings the best. Infection is a risk so just make sure to go to clean place with a trained professional. I also checked to makes sure all of the equipment they used came straight out of brand-new sterilized packages. Docs always recommend soaking a new piercing in Epsom's salts about three times per day for 10-15min each time. It can be kind of complicated considering the location. I mixed the solution in a shot glass and tilted it forward over the piercing. Be sure not to apply any petroleum products to piercing (antibiotic ointments). Happy B-day...hope it looks great.

Try pinching your belly button with your finger nails - this is basically what it feels like. They will put a clamp on it which feels like a pinch, and numbs the actual piercing. It's basically the same as getting your ears pierced - it hurts long enough for an 'ouch' and then it's over.

As for top or bottom, I have both and think the top one looks fine alone, but the bottom one looks weird without a top one. So I would get one in the top and then if you still want a bottom one get that done another day. Also, having a top one means you can wear navel rounders.

Good luck!

Get the top pierced for sure. It does hurt a bit but not like you would think. I've gotten it done 4 times so I should know lol. Just please make sure to take very good care of it and go to a place that has a lot of experience in piercings. This is why I had to have mine done so many times because they didn't do it right the first time.

Most definitely get the top pierced. Not only does it not hurt as bad, but a lot of the dangly jewelry for belly buttons looks better coming from the top. Like any piercing, it hurts for a second, but it just feels like really hard pinch. Seriously. And it makes it a lot better if you don't watch. It will just freak you out. Just lay flat on your back and think happy thoughts. Good luck!! =)

It only hurts for a second. Depending on your belly button, top or bottom might be naturally better then the other. Let your body tell you. I have one on two and two other each side, for a total of 5. I don't think one would work on the bottom for me.

Get the top pierced. Its the best anda round that area is where skin is stronger then the bottom. It doesnt hurt very much but you have to make sure to take good care of it and clean it out so you can keep it from being infected.

Of course it did, it's a needle going through skin. Did it hurt enough to be a serious factor in deciding if you should do it or not? No.

I have my top pierced, but I think the bottom looks good too, and it's kind of unique.

Really, it depends on your anatomy. If you have a stronger "lip" on one side than the other, I would get it pierced there, since it anchors the piercing in better.

The piercing itself was over in a matter of seconds, and was no worse than having your earlobe pierced. Be prepared to be very sore for the first few weeks after. You will need to take the time to clean it properly.

I have the upper portion of my navel pierced, and I think it's a sexier look, however, it is all up to individual taste.

My advice is go with barbell type jewelry until you are healed over. It pulls less, and is more comfortable.

I did the top. It was not bad at all. What hurt was when he was trying to close the hoop onto the ball. The needle was nothing. The clamp was so-so. Just a pinch really. Like I said, I did the top, like most. So, now I wish I did the bottom, just to be different. Your jeans will rub itmore. That will hurt, and slow your healing, so dress so you dont rub your button. Keep it clean.

in my opinion i imagine abdomen button rings are extra appealing. I extremely have one and that i didnt imagine it became painful. My sister has both and he or she suggested her nostril harm the worst out of all her piercings, she has gotten her rook, nostril, and abdomen button. topics can ensue with both you in elementary words must be careful no longer to get an infection. They both will scar even if the nostril will be seen extra. My sister has somewhat carry in her nostril (it is closed) yet you will discover the position it became. It isnt fairly noticable yet nevertheless there. And abdomen buttons rings depart a circle scar which isnt the prettiest. i desire this facilitates you make certain.
