I consider that the De Havilland Dragon Rapide (DH 86) was the best-looking plane ever designed.

Howard Hughes build a single seat speedster, had a round engine and was pure speed in an almost unbelievable aerodynamic profile. The aircraft had some issues I believe with the prop sync design. A pilot/builder made a exact copy, even went to the Air Museum and did some profiling to get it right. Built the aircraft and flew it. Showed it at the Reno Races two years ago I think. This all in the last two years or so. He crashed and died in that beautiful aircraft about a year ago. Today, only one exist hanging from the ceiling of the museum. It is the most beautiful thing in my mind to ever take to the air.

I'm going to think outside the box a bit and say two that I particularly like.

The late 1960s model Cessna 210s. They just look good. Cessna put things on the plane that had no purpose other than to make it look good... something that wasn't done since that I've seen. For example, the gear doors close up so tight when the gear is down that you would think it is a 206 instead. You can't even tell it's a retract.

My second nomination is for the Smith Aerostar. It just looks fast (and it is!). The plane looks like it should be a fighter instead of a classy private airplane.

There have been many. The sleek and classic Boeing 707, the Lockheed Constellation, SR71 and L1011 Tristar.
For sheer grace and beauty the winner would have to be
The Concorde.
I'll never forget when the first plane took to the sky and the chase plane looked up at the aircraft in flight and sent this message:

"You cannot possibly realize how beautiful you are"

In my opinion the Avro Vulvan The most manouvreable bomber ever and also one of the fastest. During the Cold War it served as Britain's Nuclear Deterrent along with the Vickers Valiant and the Handley-Page Victor. It was also used as a conventional bomber during the Falklands Conflict.

The Avro Aero, It was built in Canada, and was the most aerodynamic and fastest jet fighter in the world.
It was so far ahead of its time that experts feel that it would have been a front line fighter well into the 1970s.
It was built in the Late 1950 early 1960 era.

Most all selections are great, check out the F-80 Shooting Star. It flew in the fifties and still looks modern for a jet airplane. All the Century Series planes have to be included as well.

Good question.
