A hypocrit to me would be someone going on and on about other peoples faults when they themselves have issues, and I can't prove this, but I'd be willing to bet their **** stinks just like everyone elses.

Practice what you preach, don't go bashing people behind their backs when you don't know their life story. Then be nice to their face when you see them again. Don't judge people. Some people do that lifestyle, it is THEIR choice. If they want to go to church on Sunday let them...
Why judge people? PEOPLE have their choice of what THEY want to believe in...Just like Employment, why do you have the job you have? instead of the other person's occupation? Let them be. They will figure it out one day. Their Higher power will always be there when they need that higher power in their lives.
For me I am spiritual, I believe the power of within your soul and spirit. What grounds you, what gives you light and love to spread onto others. I have no hate towards the world. I don't like some people's actions or decisions sometimes. But, that is a fact of their lives, that they are living, for the moment of time.

People are people and will always be. Wasting time trying to figure out if they are hypocrites is not benefiting you at all. I too was raised in the Church of God. While some memories I will cherish, some I will not but I leave it in the past and know that people are people and I can only answer for myself. You have to know who you are in Christ and go forward.

You mean hypocrite. Whether a person is a hypocrite is not for you or me to judge. Whatever they are, whatever you are, whatever any of us are, a higher judgement will come.
I will say this much, it's good to be aware of a person's bad behavior so you can remove yourself from their presence. You know or feel the behavior is wrong so instead of labeling them, either ask why they do it or walk away. Deal with it head on or limit your contact with the person.
Don't worry who's worse than the other, just know that you don't want to be influenced by bad behavior so try not to surround yourself with people like that.

I agree that cussing someone out during a bible study is pretty bad; however, I don't think that smoking and partying (unless they are getting drunk and/or high on drugs) is hypocritical. I'm a Christian and smoke cigarettes. I know that it's bad for me and I should quite but I don't think it make me a hypocrite. Alot of Christians do things that are bad for their health - like not exercising, over eating, etc... but I would not consider them to by hypocritical. Also, my hubby and I go out for drinks 1-2 times per month. How does that make us hypocrites? People who are going out cussing and getting plowed may in fact be Christians, but they are baby Christians and need to grow in the faith. Perhaps you should pray for them?

Yes, those who tell you that you are out of line but are going against the Bible themselves are hypocrites. God knows that we have fallen short of perfect but when anyone calls themselves a Christian they must realize that (theoretically) the world looks to them as a standard, a city on a hill. But in defense of the people you speak of, I'm sure there is something someone can say about you, something that makes you a hypocrite, something ungodly and unbiblical that you need to change; such as wearing immodest clothing or having a love of money. No one is a perfect Christian and in the end God tells us that we are in no position to judge anyone or label them in any way as to how "good" of a Christian they are, because of our imperfection.

I just stay away from them. That way I don't have to put up with brain damage from ANY of them.
You've invented a new word, "hypercrit" !!
Pretty cool actually, I like it!
It means, as you wrote it, someone who is HYPER (extremely)CRITICAL, and that fits too, doesn't it.

I can be a Christian and still go to parties. I am also a human, you know?
No one should cus at someone else, Christian or no Christian, but I hear myself cussing in specific situations. This is an imperfection but not hypocrisy.
The degree of hypocrisy one possesses is equal to the absolute value of the difference between their beliefs and actions. Of course, it is not possible to actually measure these variables, but this formula does represent the relationship of these variables.
It is my theory that humans have a natural tendency to keep their hypocrisy at zero. Therefore, they have a desire to keep their beliefs and actions equal.
There are two differnt hypocrites, the honest and the dishonest;
The honest hipocrite is uncertain of Beliefs: If you are not 100% certain in what you believe, then your actions are not likely to be consistent with your beliefs 100% of the time. A conservative interpreter of reality is seldom 100% certain about anything. This uncertainty can cause one to be hypocritical at times.
Carnal Desires: These are inherent human desires that often cause one to act on what the flesh desires, rather than what one believes to be the right action.
The difficulty level of the belief system: If one's belief standards of right and wrong are higher than what is humanly possible, then their actions are obviously not going to be consistent with their beliefs.
It is best not to be hypocritical, but I would rather be an honest hypocrite than a person who tries to make truth conform around his or her own desires and imperfections. In other words, I would rather be an honest hypocrite than lie about my imperfections.

The one that springs to mind
Ted Haggard.
Not only was he claiming to be a Christian while he was leading the wild life, every Sunday he would pour his vitriol over those who were actually just like him.

HYPOCRITE
Can you throw the stone against the sinner when you in fact sin everyday. Judge not them, but yourself.
Fact: [Middle English ipocrite, from Old French, from Late Latin hypocrita, from Greek hupocritÄs, actor, from hupokrÄ«nesthai, to play a part, pretend.] In this world you all are actors.

I am a true hypocrite.
I know better than the sins I commit.
I still do them.
Some of them are conscious and some aren't.
YES, sometimes I give into my flesh!!!!
That is, sometimes I overeat, sometimes I drink too much, sometimes I lie, sometimes I have bad thoughts about people, etc., etc.
WHY does it matter who is worse than whom??
EVERYONE: TAKE YOUR OWN INVENTORY.
