Notice there aren't Mormon sites, forums.. etc.. dedicated to bashing other faiths.. Why all the hate from these faiths who claim to be followers of Christ?

I've noticed that some Christian churches/people tend to spend more time negating other denominations/faiths instead of preaching their own.

When I go to Church, I'd rather hear the good things about mine and why I'm there...instead of the "bad things" about other churches and why I "shouldn't" be there.

I think part of being a follower of Christ is trying to live like him every day. Tearing down other faiths and making people feel bad isn't exactly a Christ-like attribute, but some people do those types of things...all the while carrying a smug, "holier than thou" attitude.

I guess it just comes down to this: people tend to bash or criticize that which they don't understand. Either that, or they follow the "popular opinion". If bashing LDS is a popular thing to do (like it is here on Y!A) then they see no harm in it. To them, if everyone else does it, it must be okay.

So, you would not personally "bash" another person's religion. Good for you. Unfortunately, you are only one portion of a very tiny minority of Mormons who do not "bash" other religions - and you need to accept this fact. Being a member of an organization which is known to have engaged in certain actions makes you subject to the very same suspicions placed on those members who actually did those actions. Live with it - or work to clean up your Church from the INSIDE. And your claim that the Mormon Church does not engage in "bashing" other religions...I already know that is a false claim, dear. I have been "bashed" because I am not a Mormon - and it was a Mormon that did the "bashing"! Oh, and just so you know - that Mormon didn't believe in my religion, a fact which should be extremely obvious.

As a Mormon, I have no problem with people questioning Mormon doctrine and asking questions of themselves. That is how one learns by seeking answers. What does bother me, is how some feel so omnipotent, and declare that they know all of the "truth" and that one should not ask a Mormon about what they believe, but should ask them, as it is implied that they, by self declared authority, "know" all of the truth.

I fully agree that we all should seek answers to questions, follow our own consciences as to what we believe, etc. But please, do not say that you are the sole source of knowledge about Mormonism if you are not a faithful follower and I will likewise not say that I am an "expert" about your faith.

You want to know about Mormonism, ask a Mormon. If I want to know about your religion, I will ask a follower of it.

Because they loudly proclaim that they are the one true religion, and missionary's go banging from door to door proclaiming this annoyance.

Due to polygamy, an emphasis on large families, and aggressive proselytizing efforts, they have became one of the largest christian sects in just a little over a hundred years. They are now one of the big boys in Christianity, constantly in the spotlight.

Everything about there religion is controversial and even doubtful, everything ranging from doctrine, history, science and culture.

Mormons claim that the reason there is so much hatred towards them is because Satan knows it's true, and wants to stop the truth from progressing, so viciously fights it.

But in reality it has nothing to do with Satan. Any religious sect that sucks millions of members into it's teachings, is in the spotlight and loudly declares its self to be the one true religion, despite all the controversy surrounding it, should expect a bashing.

now that's not true I've seen plenty of Mormons on this site alone claim to be the ONLY true church and that is saying that everyone else is wrong which is in essence bashing their beliefs. And I AM technically LDS so this is not coming from an anti.

They bash us because Satan knows we are have the truth and so he is trying to do anything in his power to tear us down. This means using others to make us double think our beliefs. We as Mormons are taught to be tolerant of all people, regardless of their belief.

11th article of faith: "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of out own conscience and allow all men the same privilege. Let them worship how, where, or what they may.

EDIT:1Apologetic, please state your sources. Joseph Smith never "gave three different accounts as to who actually appeared to him, and how old he was" and if you say he did, please show me where. And we do not advise divorce in that way. In fact, the Church highly discourages divorce. Again, sources please. As to the teen suicides, *ahem* sources. And we do not have a standard of perfection. No one can be perfect, we just strive to be as perfect as possible. it is not that hard to do.
I dont have the scriptures in front of me, but there are scriptures in the Bible that talk about work for the dead. And I do not believe you when you say we have a hard time converting Chinese, because we are not allowed to proselyte in China anyways. :)

EDIT: Ms Understood, I do not consider claiming to be the only true church to be bashing. Bashing is intense arguing and rude remarks. I do not do that, and i have yet to see any Mormons on here do that.

there aren't catholic sites bashing other religions either, but catholics often bash

there aren't mormon sites bashing other religions, but mormons often bash

thus, many people critical of mormons will bash mormons, it just won't be in the name of any particular religion

I guess it's easy for these so called Christians to bash something that is different than what they believe. It takes a big person to step back and see what's right and what's wrong.

Where oh where does Mr Peepers get the idea that we dish it and can't take it?

Well If by bashing you mean well, trying to let the world know the truth, here it is. Starting with Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon cult, as concerning his "revalation" in the forest, he himsef actually gave three different accounts as to who actually appeared to him, and how old he was. Funny huh? Another reason he is not to be believed is that his so called revalation and those who appeared to him do not agree with scripture on all accounts, whereas every revalation in the Holy Bible (Paul's, for example) does.

As far as the "Family togetherness" thing goes, how is it that the head of the local mormon church will advise awoman to divorce he husband if he is at all lacking in faith and service to the church? And how is it that Mormonism has the most teen suicides out of any religion in the United States, which is due to the standard of absolute perfection that the mormon church places upon it's followers?
Odd, wouldn't you say?

And what about the baptisim of the dead, isn't that contrary to scripture? "a man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment."
Which brings up an odd thing. In Anton whatsisname's satanic bible, there is a list of all the demonic gods and godesses. The god of the dead is called mormo, and his followers mormons.
In china the mormons have a hard time converting people, because in chinese mormon means gates of hell!

That is why Christians "bash" mormons.
