Usually it's a sign of their own insecurity and their hidden desire to believe.

What is the point of someone going on and on just trying to prove a religion right? It makes no sense. It is a waste of time.

The point is about the same as someone going on and on trying to prove religion right. That makes just about as much sense as one trying to prove it wrong. Also a waste of time. Also as much sense as trying to prove or disprove the existence of God. This too a waste of time.

What is the point of someone going on and on just trying to prove evolution is wrong?
It makes no sense. It is a waste of time.
I'd agree with you on both points. But when is the last time an evolutionist knocked on your door to just talk or hand out a pamphlet. Believe what you will and be happy!

Rogue got it exactly right. There is a difference between winning a soul, persuading someone, standing up for what you believe and all out bashing someone... uh... if you don't like what I believe and you believe something aren't there some tenets that would tell you to trust the spirit not the flesh? He that has ears to hear, let him hear. Everyone else, have a nice day, glad you know what you need/want/believe. I know when to stop belaboring a point and leave things in God's hands. AND IN MY EXPERIENCE, when someone who I was close to or had constant contact didn't agree with my faith, it was a matter of time and life experience that revealed the truth, not any amount of rehashing, ya know? Yep.

The R&S board is here to discuss different religions and ALL opinions are welcome. I personally am not trying to "prove" anyone wrong or change anyone's way of thinking in any way. I just answer questions with the knowlege I have through research I've done. And the questions I post are questions I'm genuinely wondering about and want others opinions and thoughts on the matter.
I don't need to try to prove anything, some would say that my change in religion would be considered a loss of faith. To me it's helped me gain a bigger testimony of the things that ARE true, and helped me to come to grips with and better understand the things I've found to not be true. I've never ever done more praying and scripture study then I have in this last month of doing all my research.

The waste of time is believing to begin with. Most atheists are here "trying to prove" that religion is wrong to wake you guys up to the real world. We want to HELP you. Genuinely, not just because it would make us look better at church.

Talk is cheap. By one's fruits (or behavior it causes it follows to perform, Christlike actions) are the true test of a religion's validity.

I can't answer this, but I think it is a waste of time to argue something you don't believe.
