I remember reading something like 1 ounce for every so many pounds of weight. But can't remember where I heard/read it.

You are suppose to drink as many ounces of water as HALF of what you weigh. ei- 150 lbs = 75 oz water per day

it is definetly true. 64 oz. would be the bare minimum water intake for the sedentary individual. the more muscle mass that a person has and the more active that they are the higher their water intake will be. genetics, weather (humidity, etc.) and other factors ultimately all should play a role in determining ones water intake.

the key is to not let the body become dehydrated. once you feel thirsty the body is already dehydrated.

It varies for people depending on size. Just like bigger people (taller etc) need more food, same with water. Generally 8-10 cups is a good estimate. However, a better way to know if you are having enough water is by checking your pee! Sounds gross I know, but if your pee is transparent (completely clear), then you are drinking enough water. On the other hand, yellow pee is a sign of dehydraiton

Also, depending on how much youwork out, you need to drink water to compensate for that.

2-3 liters a day is the estimate and that also depends on how active you are too. the more active the more water you need.

that includes other things you drink, like tea or whatever. you should be drinking lots of water, but i knew one lady who drank her 8 oz a day on top of her tea, coffee, juice etc and she got really sick from water logging her body down with too much liquids.
