Would you send your kids to eternal hell if they didn't do what you wanted them to do and in the time frame (life span) you wanted them to do it?

Yet another reason why religion is a joke. Hell does not exist and neither does heaven. Enjoy your time on earth and make the most of it because when you die, that's al folks!

There is no concept in Judaism, and never has been, of an eternal hell God sends his children to.

In Judaism, God is loving, compassionate, fair, kind, and protective - contrary to the incorrect Christian teaching that the God of the "Old" Testament is a God of war and punishment.

Christianity apparently got the idea of eternal hell from ancient religions such as Zoroastrianism.

If you're interested in what Jews believe, here are some good resources:

http://www.jewfaq.org
http://www.jewsforjudaism.com
http://www.messiahtruth.com
http://www.chabad.org
http://www.askmoses.com

And one good website (although there are many) to see where Christianity got most of it's foundations is
http://www.drazin.com Start at the brown bar across the top where it says "Table of Contents" and "Introduction", that is the menu. Be sure to read all the chapters, particularly the "Ancient god/men" chapter.

I know this question was addressed to Christians, but I also know that there are very few Christians aware that there is no such concept as burning in hell eternally in Judaism, so I thought I'd write in with the info in case any are interested.

There is no biblical explanation for the presence of an eternal hell. The word often translated as hell was Gehenna, an area outside of Jerusalem that was a rubbish heap with continuously burning fires. It was used for unclean things and carcasses. Formerly the area had been used for human sacrifice by the pagans and had been condemned as such. Apostate religions used the idea as a method of invoking fear to get the general population to go to church, somewhere along the line of selling indulgences. Why would a loving God torture his children, even if they were bad? The bible says that the dead know nothing and they have no more reward.

Not everyone is a child of God first of all. Secondly, everyone has the choice about whether or not they go to hell. But when they choose to believe it's all just fiction, then they send themselves to hell.

James 4:4-Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Romans 8:16&17-The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Galatians 3:26-For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 5:6-Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

All the people who end up going to hell will have done so because they actually prefer hell to being forced into the presence of God for all eternity. People like to live in their favorite sins and answer to no one else. They know that if they accept Yeshua as Lord and Savior that God will want them to change their lives and they might have to give up some of their autonomy.

At this time in history, there is more evidence demonstrating the existence of God than at any time in the past. There are missionaries throughout the world proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and the salvation that He offers as a free gift. Although the gift is "free," it will cost you your sin, selfishness, and pride. Since none of these character traits are allowed into heaven, those who insist upon holding onto these traits cannot enter into heaven, but must be separated from God in a place called hell. Therefore, those who go to hell do so voluntarily, preferring hell to complete submission to a holy and just God.

in some unspecified time interior the destiny all mothers and dads could desire to enable their babies to workout their unfastened will. it is called love. God isn't any distinctive. the outcomes subsequently are severe. it is why we are all given an entire life to make the alternative. And the alternative particularly isn't between heaven and hell. you're magnificent. you do no longer % to circulate to hell, whether you have self belief it exists or no longer. you % between allowing Jesus to take finished accountability on your eternal destiny and taking that accountability upon your self. in case you may settle for which you're a sinner then you definately can settle for that a cost could desire to be paid on your sin. That cost is loss of life. this is God's justice, like it or no longer. yet God's love says it is not your fault. after all, the bible says you have been born with this sin nature. you may no longer help yet sin. So now there's a seaming conflict between God's requirement for justice and want for romance. yet Jesus reconciled the two by utilising paying the cost on your sins. Justice grew to become into served and love grew to become into granted. So have confidence in Jesus and he's have been given you lined. Or have confidence in your self and take your opportunities. God will decide you extremely the two way. chosen Jesu and he will tell His Father your charges have been paid in finished. enter the dominion of heaven. Deny Jesus and the debt maintains to be. No debtors are allowed in heaven. And whilst time runs out that different place stands out as the only place left so which you would be able to circulate. At that factor you may now no longer use the excuse which you do not have self belief it exists.

We have the ability to become children of God. God is not sending you to hell but paying the penalty of death for you that you might have eternal life.

Why are most people failing to answering your question?

Everyone is saying it is our choice, but they miss the point that it is God deciding the punishment and God deciding to carry it out.

I might tell my kids they will be grounded for TV for a week if they do not do their homework first, but for me to say that I am going to cause them eternal suffering for it . . . I would get a swift visit from social services.

I set punishments for my kids so that they will do what I want them to, what I think is ethical and right.

But I chose to carry those punishments out so that they will learn to not do it again. It is MY choice to do so.

But if the punishment is eternal, how can there be any learning? Any redemption? I would never, never give my children an eternal punishment.

Once again, the Christian version of god fails to come up to my ethical standards.

I believe that God wants to give everyone the freedom of choice. Either to choose Him or not to. He isn't happy when people don't choose Him and they have to go to hell instead of spending eternity with Him in heaven.

God doesn't "send" anyone to hell. People choose where they will go.

Think about it, Christ suffered and died so that no one would go to hell. He's done more than His part. If a person still does not choose life, that's on them, not God.

God does not send people to hell. Hell is the choice people make when they reject God and live a life of giving hell to others. God does not force us to love God. We make choices and experience the consequences of our choices.
