Ok so I had this nightmare awhile ago. It was like I was in danger and I was screaming my lungs out but I couldn't hear myself, I was tryna tell my husband to help me but he couldn't hear me. I tried to move but something kept holding me down. Like I literally couldn't move, I wanted to wake up sooo bad but couldn't. My bed is near a mirror so in the dream when I turned my head around I saw a person dressed in black (I guess you could call it death) I couldnt see the face but that was what was holding me down. This is the second time I have a nightmare where I scream but no one hears me and it's like I can't even move. Can anyone tell me what the hell is this about?? (I had this nightmare when me and my husband were good, now we're separated so i has nothing to do with my marriage because I had this nightmare way before me and him separated) So what could this mean??

It sounds to me like sleep paralysis. I get this a lot. It is happens when your mind wakes up before your body does and feels as if you are having a nightmare and you cant move or scream or do anything else. I often feel like there is something in the room with me that is super natural. Once I realized what was actually happening I am now able to calm myself down when it happens and wake myself up completely.

here is a link about it

Don't believe this sleep paralysis crap. I am from Louisiana, commonly known with the culture and religion of Voddo and magic, of course I do not practice it but I do believe in it and so does my family and all the supernatural and things that we just can't explain. If you believe in angels which are spirits and spirits are commonly known as ghost, they are all the same, some are good and some are bad, bad spirits are known as demons. Science has yey to find the truth about many things and when they can't find the truth, they throw some kind of fact into the mix and give it a name. I have had this happen to me as well, screw all the mind waking up before your body does, how does that even make sense. Usually you cannot see the demon's face but sometimes you do in which they will mask themselves as someone in your life that you do not like or get along with. Can sleep paralysis answer why you see someone standing over you or holding you down, and then they disappear when you wake, also while being held down, i look around and can see everything in my room, but when the pressure is relieved, the demon disappears. Somethings in life just can't be answered with science, and if you believe in life after death, or the afterlife or heaven, than you must believe in the supernatural and things not of this world because one day, we will become them, good or bad is completly up to how you live this life on earth

will even thought at the time when u had the dream things was good may be deep down things wasn't so good like may be those feelings u had in the dream is similar to the feelings u Had in ur marriage like for example u said in the dream no one hears u so may be u felt like the guy u husband at the time wasn't listening to u or may be there was a lack of understanding between u and him . when u said death was holding u down but u couldn't see the face may be in ur waking like u felt that ur dead in side and that its holding u back from some thing or may be ur feelings for him was dieing and u felt like it was holding to back some how or may be u felt that his feelings for u was dieing and that u couldnt do anything to save the marraige.

i know this might not be the kind of answer u wanted because u thinks the dream has nothing to do with the marridge that u had but i tryed my best. what u could do is make an apointmet with some one who can help u undertstand ur dream .

Has anyone you know died recently? If so, it could be caused by that. Usually when dreaming about death, there are many interpretations. One common one is that some part of you is trying to radically change. It's not always a bad thing...

I'm guessing that the part with you screaming and being restrained and muted could signify you feeling helpless in a way, like you can't express yourself or your thoughts. If this seems accurate for you, maybe you could find some creative outlet to channel your feelings into. Also, just listen to yourself to find if there really is something deep inside you trying to change or break free.

Good luck!

Well, in Creole culture as I have been told by me elders, I have heard a dream where you feel trapped in it but can see everything going on and you're trying to get out but can't, they call it kushma(spelling is incorrect).

I have had this type of dream before. I was in bed and I could see my sister and I was screaming for her to help me, but there was this force holding me down. I couldn't move or anything yet it seemed as if my sister was just looking at me and not helping. After what seemed like forever, I remember waking in a cold sweat.

Old tales say if you experience something like that, your spirit is not right. I don't know how much I buy into that, but I know after that experience I started to say my prayers before I sleep.

When I went through a phase like this with dreams, I had a really rough time. I even thought I might be physically ill. So I went to several specialists and fortunately to this day, I'm still okay physically. I'm a male, so in a sense the gender of the characters was reversed. But these nightmarish dreams eventually transformed into much more positive dreams and in fact finally culminated in a dream of immense and permanent beauty. So there was most definitely light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. But it took a bit of time.

I think your dream is difficult because it is so essential and in a sense nuclear. By nuclear I mean it is occurring at a very deep level of your being - like the nucleus of the self. Here things behave a little differently than in other dreams and of course compared to waking life. Parts of the autonomic nervous system that govern the lungs, the heart, the muscles, the larynx, pharynx, mouth and tongue will operate, but there will be no sound because of the level at which the dream is occurring. So you will not even hear your own words or your own screams. This is due to the nuclear level at which it is occurring. At this level there is no normal sensory input and output. In this sense the silence is normal. Most of the associative cerebral cortex is inactivated at this core level. So the neuronal channels that make us associate sound or movement with a particular object or circumstance has been cut off in the dream.

The appearance of the black figure seen through the mirror is typical or even archetypical of this deep, nuclear level. But because it is so deep, the power or energy associated with this black figure will be huge. He is magnetically very compelling and clearly you cannot combat him at will. So he is a powerful archetype that has been activated at a very deep level. Because he is black he refers to the base or foundation that has traditionally been very mysterious and of course terrifying until that power is integrated into your total system. Right now your terror of its paralyzing power is making integration difficullt. But it is normal to be terrified of a force that holds you down and prevents you from moving normally or reacting normally. But I will repeat. This is occurring at a very deep level of your psyche. Therefore the integration will have to occur at this level. The integration will not really be concerned with your life-memory bank and all the associated sensory and motor data that we cherish so much in waking life. It's as if your dream has taken you down into the nucleus of the germ and you have left behind the stem, the branches, the flowers, the leaves, the fruits of your own Tree of Life.

Traditionally "black" means more than just one thing. In fact it means many things and in many traditions that have been influenced by dreams, the black contains all things. Therefore it is the great transformer. Think of the black earth. It is in that black earth that the previous plant dies and is buried. But it is also within that black earth that, after it lets go of its former life, it germinates into a new plant and rises out of the mysterious marriage between the essence of the germ and the nutrients contained within the black.

I think you feel trapped and in danger within this nucleus. This may find a reflection in the outside world, but it doesn't have to. It it does, try not to panic. Try to see or accept it as a phase. You will get through this phase. I believe your system is demanding an inner marriage between you and this black figure. Initially it seems weird, creepy, strange, evil, terrifying. But really it is not these things. It only seems this way because the conscious mind has not been trained to understand the strange processes that occur in the innermost part of the personality. Depth psychology was developed in Europe during the wars to attempt to address these sorts of intense and apparently non-rational dream states. Within depth-psychology the black is always the great harbinger of deep change.

Try to be a bit more tolerant and patient of this inner life and be sure to write down all other dreams that you have. Each dream may hold a little clue that will help to transform and integrate the energy of the nightmare. There is a point where you must totally accept that black figure. There is a point where total acceptance at the deepest substratum of your being is the sole key that will convert terror into its opposite, dark into light, incomprehensibility into understanding.

During waking life work on tolerance and sensitivity toward yourself - including any fears you might have - and also toward others. This can also extend to men. It is important to see them as they are with forbearance and real interest. I think this will work its way back into your unconscious. The unconscious also has a male and female side that is quite different from one's outer relationships, but no less important.

I truly suspect that the black figure is not merely an image of death. I think it is also the key, the source through which your entire personality could be renewed. I know it's terrifying. But what is terrifying is its power. And that power can be changed into something totally different.

That, by the way, is the whole secret of "Beauty and the Beast", that classic that has haunted everybody for a long time. The beast is really that black, terrifying figure that guards the supreme treasure, the golden key, your very heart.

So, take heart. Be strong and go to the next level. Let yourself be changed. The black is ironically the great purifier that eventually puts harmony in the place of discord.

This is easy. These dreams were regarding your husband and your relationship with him. Since you and he have seperated, you may have had some thoughts in your unconscious about how he may be holding you back from what you want, maybe he was trying to hold you back from trying to get out of your marriage. In Freudian Psychology, the theory is that dreams are merely unconscious thoughts. A question I do have though; How do you know the person in black was death?

The inescapable prospect of death is something we cannot run away from or "move from". I think there are things in your life you want to become or do, and it scares you if you dont do those things before its too late. Notice in your dream you were not being killed, just confronted by death and its inescapable grip. This means you need to stop being scared of things of the future and live your life in the most fulfilling way that you can see. In this way, you need not escape death because you will be ready for it.

you could't "make" all and sundry confer with you. you in elementary words ought to maintain in mind that she responded your questions because she's "thenicegirl," yet that she would not intend on being hit on through a guy posting a question on Yahoo! FAQ's. My advice is to give up messaging her or you'll head down a really undesirable direction in the route of stalker status.
