Yes and No... it would make life easier in terms of mainstream agreement, etc. But, it would make life harder in trying to deny your own humanity, worshipping a very mean "loving father," and being filled with shame and guilt at being both human and *shudders* female...

Yes.
I could devolve my responsibility onto god.
I could not worry about what mistakes I make in this life, because the slate gets wiped clean for the next.
I would not be going to cease to exist, but just be born again into a even better place.
I would have a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that someone loves me.
I would not have to worry about bad things happening because they would all be part of The Plan, and all for the good in the long run.
Life would be easier if I was Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi and Bill Gates all rolled into one.
Alas, however hard I believe I am that person, the reality remains different.
I would prefer to live in a poor reality rather than a wonderful fantasy.

Only in the sense that Christmas would be a better holiday if there was really a Santa Claus.
I used to believe in god and Santa. Not believing in them has not made my life easier or harder (although not believing in god has limited the times I can easily and politely express my faith). On the other hand, not believing has freed me from a number of hard to explain superstitious beliefs. It has made me feel more intellectually honest. And it has put me more at peace with the world as it is versus the world as christians would like it to be.

Although I am not an Athiest, I don't think that automatically believing in God would make your life easier. Whether you believe or not, you still have many questions about life and things to think upon. Those who believe may struggle to make their lives right with God, to better understand God's will, and so forth. Athiests seek to better understand the human nature, and how we create morals, and such. Really it's just a matter of perspective.

Believing was easy as long as I could deny myself from asking those questions that were dangerous to the beliefs I was taught. Once I could no longer ignore them it became harder and harder to believe.
Clinging to some shred of hope was the hardest so far.
It is emotionally easier to accept that I can not believe. Of course I have yet to tell anyone in real life who will react badly, THAT will be hard.

No. I didn't get a good enough answer on my question about how Christians fit the issue of child abuse in their faith.
The answers were so sad, "it's God's plan." or "Good things come of bad things." Or "Angels are with those children."
I just read horrible news about a kiddie-abuse internet ring and I think it is the most vile injustice done to those children and I can't see how hurting, or even allowing innocent infants to be maimed is part of God's plan. Obviously, if I had a plan, it would not include or allow kids to get hurt- ever. I can't be a believer in the Christian God based on my morals. I can't make sense of it. I can't make it fit.

Maybe, but that doesn't make it right.
The path of ethical behavior is not always easy, but it's always right. The path of blind faith, of leaving your morality in the hands of others, is quicker and easier, but not better. Nothing worth doing is easy, and if you want to know you're doing the right thing, you cannot leave your morality in the hands of others, and you cannot forego your accountability on the basis that you will be forgiven if you make a mistake.

I am able to believe, but I think that you should not believe in something because you WANT to believe in it. You should find the truth.
