Unfortunately, they can refuse to let anyone in based on whatever they want. It is a business the sells food and your son was eating food from somewhere else. In most places that is not allowed as well. This case though is kind of wierd seeing as how he is 2 years old. If i were you, i would contact McDonald's corporate office and give a formal complaint or maybe find out their official policy on the matter.
Why didnt you just wait with him outside til he finished his ice cream anyway? It is not safe to leave a 2 year old outside unsupervised for any amount of time. He could have been kidnapped. Be careful!

Umm while beleive it or not, the mcd's play place is not a public playground. You can't expect to just walk in their, not buy anything and use the equipment. Thats like going to a movie theatre, bringing ur own popcorn and asking to use thier butter. You'd have to be out of your mind to allow someone to do that. If mc'd's didnt do this, theyd have 200 kids in the playplace at all times. Mcd's is a bussiness, they are not out to make the world a better place by providing children w/ playgrounds, they are in it for the cash.

Any business has the right to refuse anyone service at any time for any reason. It doesn't mean they're right, it's just their perogative.

Most restaurants will not allow outside food into their establistment - it conflicts with their business. That's their rule. It sucks, but it happens, and if they make an exception for your two year old, if word gets out, they'll have everyone and their cousin trying it with their little kids. (Don't think for one second that someone wouldn't try to sneak a competitor's stuff in on their child.)

It was a bad decision on the managers part. A lot of restaurants, etc. don't like having a competitors stuff in their place of business, but since your child was only 2 he could have made an exception. All McDonald Stores are franchised and the name of the owner of the franchise should be displayed inside and sometimes even outside of the store. Write to the owner of that franchise and complain, I would. Your kid is only 2, there should have been a better decision made about that.

What you have described is not typical of most McDonalds restaurants I have been to. I have brought in Mexican food before. As long as you are purchasing something to eat there, they really shouldn't care if you bring in outside food. What happened to your son was shameful. I would contact the customer service number for McDonalds and report that incident to them. There is a McDonalds where I live that gives horrible service. I won't go back. I will go a bit farther out of my way rather than patronize that particular McDonalds again. When you contact their customer service number or website and post a comment/complaint, they do look into that and it does reflect on that particular store. It's possible that not only will they take action to reprimand the store manager, but you might be sent a coupon for a free meal as a result. Whether or not you "get anything" out of it, you should still complain, because that was just wrong.

Of course they can not allow him in.

I HATE when I pay more than a buck for a pop, and some teenagers sneak bottles into Taco Bell.

If you decide to eat at a restaurant, you order off their menu.

You wouldn't try that stunt at a place with silverware on the table, would you?

Otherwise, I would totally mix and match my meal:

Big Mac
Rally's Fries
Arby's Jamocha Shake :)

Yes, you can't go in with food from someone else. I think it may be something that the lawyers dictate, since people sue over the stupidest things these days.

"No outside food" is a common edict at restaurants. There
are potential health concerns which in turn lead to legal
and insurance issues for the establishment. So it's just
easier to say "Hey,if it's not sold to you by us,keep it
outside."

They were well within their rights.

May seem silly, but there you have it..

i can understand if your son was a grown individual, but a 2 year old? what did the manager expect from that ice cream...influence? that was unnecessary and forced.

I read that you left your 2 yr old outside while you and your wife were in Mickey Ds.
""after he finished ,only then he could come in.""

Are you impaired???????

You don't leave a toddler outside!
