No.
Supreme Court decision Tennesee vs. Garner. You have to be an immediate threat to the public in order for the police to shoot a fleeing felon.

It depends on the circumstances.
If you are stopped for a traffic ticket or some other run-of-the-mill arrest, no, an officer cannot shoot you if you run away unarmed.
You must in some way pose a threat to the police or to the public before they can use deadly force and any threatening action/situation before fleeing or during the committing of a crime will determine what type of threat you pose.

The answer is: It depends.
If the officer thought that you were a danger to the public and felt that he had no other means of stopping you - then you will get shot.
Otherwise you may just find yourself trying to outrun a police dog.
BTW - even if you do get away, whoever you borrowed the car from will be real upset with you when they find out what the impound fees are.

There wouldn't be any reason to take off after you or shoot you anyway.
1) I've got your car which is now going to be siezed as evidence, good luck getting that back this century.
2) If your license is correct then I'll be at your door with a warrant for your arrest as well as a heap of other charges in the morning.

First they'll get that dog after you or put that Taser gun on you and I heard that is really painful. Once they stop you and you take off running they'll catch you and to jail you go. Sometimes they'll say they thought you had a weapon and they will shot you.

No, with this information he can't shoot you. But you are adding charges to your record when he does catch you. So it is best to do what he says and take the ticket. Save yourself the pain of the taser, or the dog, or the baton, or Bubba your new roommate in jail.

My dad used to be a police officer and now is a detective. I know that he ever shot anyone who ran away from him. They will just follow you and arrest you. Unless you put anyone in harms way, then they have the right to shoot you.

In Canada, unless the officer had information that you were planing on murdering someone immediately, you would not be shot.
Police shoot to stop the threat of serious bodily harm or death to any person.

He cant' shoot you, but he can get close enough while chasing you and shoot you with a taser he would only need to be about 21 feet from you for that. good luck, and do some strectching before you try it! Let us know how it turns out.
