Mormon Missionaries are just your basic salesman. That's it. Get over it. They typically know LESS than others because they are young. They know what they were taught in their sales training at the MTC. It's just a power selling course.

To argue the point about "Wouldn't you go to the source"... Yes, it's true, but you're going to get BIASED information. This is true for anything, not just the Mormons. A company is not going to tell you all their dirt, they want to sell you stuff. This is true with the Mormon church. They need you to see all the fairy tail rosy stuff, and if you were exposed to the truth and the dark secrets, you'd never part with your money.

The official Mormon church sources of information only want to portray the positive, happy, family oriented propaganda. They want to appear on the outside as the perfect little religion that makes everybody happy.

They have a much darker side that cannot easily be explained. No existing and true believing Mormon would understand this. You only realize this after leaving and learning the truth.

I personally get my information from experience, (I've been LDS for the last year) Also scripture study, prayer, church members, church leaders, prophets, church websites, Ensign, I could go on and on.
I've only recently started to find out some things that LDS endorsed sites and magazines and members don't tell you, or maybe some of them don't even know.
I used to give Mr. Peepers and Tan Man thumbs down constantly but they turned out to be correct about some things, even if they seem a little bitter about it and could state things more tactfully, they DO have some valid information and I stand corrected. I suggest you do your own research on the back ground, "blind faith" is good, but if there are things you know in your heart aren't right, don't ever let anyone try to tell you you need to just "put it aside". Study on your own, pray on your own, and if you asked with and open heart ready to receive answers, I know you'll receive them. Be specific in your prayers it has really helped me a lot. The LDS Church does have awesome values and holds a lot of truth, and are some of the most decent people I've ever met, but not everything they tell you is true, RESEARCH! God bless!

PS Mr. Peepers almost always sights his sources on my questions so I never have to wonder if he's just pulling things out of his @$$. I am in the process of doing further research on the viability of THOSE sources however, and that's all I suggest for you is to do your own research. I've always been an open minded person even if it takes a bit to break through my hard headed barrier I do listen to both sides and both sides harbor truth.

LOL.. Tan man blocked me from answering any of his questions again about us "mormons". I find it kind of funny, and cowardly. Since I, apparently, don't know anything about my own religion, and he knows so much!!! Trust someone who isn't a member to know more about what I believe! Good luck trying to talk to them about anything. All they care about is bad-mouthing something they don't understand, and don't want to understand.

Oh.. since I'm LDS, I get my info from the church. I think that's the best way to find out about something- straight from the horses mouth!

The girl that answered before me- You didn't get your info from us, you got it from sites that are supposed to show us false. If you really are interested in learning the truth, you would look at places that talk about what we really believe. Here's a link.. feel free to read what is written about all the things you said against us. Have a great day!!!

I get the information about the church from the church. If you want to find out about the Catholic Church wouldn't you talk to current members of the Catholic Church. If you want to find out about how to care for your pets you don't go talk to your family doctor, you talk to the vet- you go to the source. IF you want to find out about a company you should go to their website and talk to their current employees or former not so jaded employees.

If you want accurate information about the church you should talk to current members, Church leaders, Missionaries etc... www.Mormon.Org and www.LDS.Org are good places to get correct information. If you speak to a former member, it is important to understand their intent, Are they upset by the church? if so you will probably get extremely biased information. If you go to a website not endorsed by the church I would find out what the intent of the website is and how accurate their information is. If they have an agenda, you may not get correct information. If the intent is to give information about the church and they have done correct research, then it is probably a decent site to get info from.

The LDS Church HAS NEVER condoned child abuse of any form. Even in the Polygamy days, they did not codone it. Adults were not allowed to marry children that is just wrong and always has been. You need to make sure you get correct information.

Rev. Kip- you are showing how inaccurate and ignorant your information is since you don't even know our founders name.

Do you realize that pro Mormon sources are just as biased, twisted, and exaggerative as anti Mormon sources?

Do you also realize that you have a brainwashed mindset that causes you to look at non church approved sources (or anti to your mind) with bias?

Do you realize that for every minute a members biased mind spends with non church approved sources is an hour spent on pro websites, church, seminary, and uplifting friends?

You see what happens is, LDS apologists say one thing, aren't taken seriously by the outside scholarly community, but is gullibly believed by LDS members.

If it doesn't support you than it's obviously flawed, right?

But its o.k., if the warm fuzzys tell you your info is true, than it must be.

*warning: that link has fused information, some bad language and weird stuffs. It is a parody of the Wikipedia and they write there the opposite meaning of mont things.

I got the limited information I have from a couple of elders who came by. They knew I had different Christian beliefs but they stopped by weekly and gave me lessons. They played in the yard with my dog and I gave them snacks and something to drink. I was interested in learning about their religion. They both seemed very well informed.
