Hell, if you're going to lie, don't skimp.
(NB: Replace "Butterfly Puppies" with "Jet Robots" and "Unicorn Princess" with "Army Guy Ninja" for boys.)

Vacation Bible School is known in some places as Vacation Bible Camp. I worked on programs like that for five years or so, and none of the kids ever seemed to have a problem with the name. Of course, we had a theme every year, so people would call it by the theme name as much as anything.

well it means a different kind of learning. We have about 100 to 150 kids come to our VBS each summer. We only have about 70-85 kids. So it brings children to church that normally do not go to church. Also, the vacation is for the parents becuse the kids are away from them for 4 to 5 hours...haha

It is an apt name and appropriate.
VBS was began by churches as a summer outreach & activities filled week(s) for kids during summer vacation from school that had a Biblical foundation.
It was created for those within their church and community who could not afford or did not care to have their young children shipped off to camps for weeks or a month at a time during summer break from school.

I don't think it is because it is fun and they are learning which is associated with school, and they are learning about God and the Bibl, hense Bible, and its during the vacation so that is why they put the vacation in there and no i wouldn't rename it.

I always hated that, at my church, it began the week right after regular school let out...we didn't even get a break from regular school, and then we would have to go to VBS...uggghhh...
I think it should be named something besides school too...something more positive like, camp or retreat, or something to do with the subject matter.

Vacation Bible School when I was a kid used to actually be more like sports and crafts, but I think nowadays since the fundies took over it has become more like Jesus Camp.

lol we just called it Bible School....didn't even put Vacation in it! But we knew that it was a time for fun and crafts so it was all good.
I remember this one game...they put shaving cream on water balloons and you had to shave the balloon with a razor (with a blade in it) without busting it.
