I have 2 computers: one with Windows 2000 and one with XP. I recently bought a Norton AV 2007 for 3-users to update my protection. The XP install went fine as usual, but the Win2000 won't accept the Norton 2007 update. Is it better to update the Win2000 OS to Vista, or buy a new computer with Vista? This computer works fine and is only used for internet surfing and occasional light use. (Word and Excel)

Thanks for any comments.

Well it would be really helpful if you provided the specs of your computer, but from what you say, it seems better to buy a new computer. Besides not all Win 2000 operating systems, if any, can handle vista. have you tried the Windows vista upgrade adviser, to see whether your system can handle vista or not? if so you should try it, as not all systems can manage it- you may end up losing you computer. but my advise to you is, if you have the means, buy a new computer, because you may end up with more problems upgrading to vista, as oppose to buying a new computer or upgrading certain components.

It relies upon on what the computing gadget will used for. in case you're utilizing for a effortless domicile computing gadget, no enhancements are necessary. As for Vista, my adventure has been that XP is extra advantageous and Vista is worse than domicile windows 2000.

Go to the Microsoft website and check for updates on your OS and see if that fixes the problem..My room mate has Vista and he say it still has alot of bug they need to work out. I would check for updates first.

Trust me, your best bet is to update the operating system. Buying another pc would definitely be overdoing it and it's more expensive. Make sure your memory can handle the download and you'll be fine.

I wouldn't suggest "upgrading" to Vista, it's a huge resource hog and still has bugs. If you want to upgrade, upgrade to XP...you'll be much happier.
