Im a self confessed chocaholic as well

what i did was is i realised what would happen if i carried on eating the way i did, changed my habits completely with the help of weight watchers - 8 weeks into the plan im 9lb lighter! okay maybe not like 18lb lighter but im happy with the way its coming off!

When i first started trying to loose weight in april 2006, thats all i could think about - but now i have chocolate still but in moderation, maybe twice a week sometimes 3 times!! or i eat low calorie chocolate and i work it into my points diet!!

Also another thing i do - is if i think i really need chocolate i get 1 piece and i really taste the chocolate when i put it in my mouth, and i think does this really t aste that good!! as good as an apple does it make me feel as good as an apple etc etc and the answer is always no!! lol

but if you go withouth something you crave, you will crave it more!! to loose weight you dont need to cut it out completely you just need to be ready to change the way you eat

YOU WILL REACH YOUR TARGET WEIGHT!! you will trust me have faith in yourself! you are doing so so so well!

Good Luck! if you wanna chat or anything you can always send me an email or soemthing!! id love a diet buddy (which is also a great motivation)

I really know what you are going through here. I am also a chocoholic and chocoholics anonymous doesn't exist yet, (I don't think). I could do with losing about the same amount of weight too and it is really hard. You're doing what you need to do take each day one at a time and you'll get there. Once you get through the initial sugar cravings it will get easier I promise.

You can do it, once you've made a start and asked for help here you have already come a long way towards your goal. I will believe in you if you will.

Thing is you have to want to lose weight, for yourself and not just to impress or please others and that's been my problem for years, I have a sweet tooth too and have lost almost 3 stone since the beginning of February with Slimming World, every day I have some sort of sweet treat and at weekends I have a curly wurly, a cadburys light chocolate mousse and a bag of quavers as my sin allowance for the day, its a very easy eating plan with tons and tons to eat, you actually have to eat a lot on this plan to lose weight, have a nosey on their website at www.slimmingworld.co.uk and see what you think of it yourself, everyone is really friendly in the classes, no snobs or stick insects, good luck and hope you reach your target.

Don't think of chocolate as a treat you are depriving yourself of. Every time you think about chocolate, making the decision not to eat it is a treat to your body because you are treating your body well, and will be on the track to being slim.

You are treating yourself by not eating this junk. It might feel a bit weird to think like that but after a week or so it becomes second nature.

Stop defining yourself by what you eat "I am a total chocoholic", change that phrase to "occasionally I enjoy some quality chocolate".

When you start changing your behaviour patterns to try and lose weight, this can feel like artificial mind games, but getting your brain in shape is probably the hardest part of losing weight. Anyone can drink lots of water, and not eat junk. Doing so consistently month in month out, when it is not a habit you have, is the hard bit.

Try this it was invented by a dietician for obese people who need an operation in two weeks time.
There is enough for one week so freeze half freshly made to last the week.
I cheated and did it for a whole 6 months went from a 40in waist to a 32in without to much effort.

Operation Soup

Ingredients.

3 large onions
1 large or two small green peppers
1 bunch of celery
½ head of green cabbage
1 leek
2 tin chopped tomatoes
1 packet of French onion soup (any brand)
3 vegetable stock cubes (I use oxo)

Cut all vegetables into bite size pieces if your not going to liquidize.
Place all in a large pot add enough water to cover.
Simmer until vegetables are cooked add more water if necessary.

NOTE
To be eaten as a two meal replacement (largest and the smallest).
You can still have a light lunch or light evening meal.
Should not exceed 5 days at a time and 10 days a month.
You will pass more water so make sure you keep up your water intake.

first of all, you are NEVER going to reach your goal if you are being negative and saying you don't think you can do it from the beginning... that's no way to go into a diet, or any challenge for that matter. BE POSITIVE! tell yourself you can do it, believe in yourself and be your own coach.

second of all, if you need chocolate, go to the store and buy the sugar-free chocolate. I used to be on atkins and tried the sugar free stuff, just for kicks, and it turned out to be really good! you can get all kinds of sugar free candy and it tastes good! they are all pretty close to the real thing, however try out different brands, some are better than others. BUT, if you break down and need the real thing, get the darkest chocolate you can find, it's actually pretty good for you because of all the antioxidants in it... not a pound of it though... always look for alternatives, i know a lot of the health food products are gross, but some are really good.. you just gotta try them!!!

Good Luck! Stay Positive!

What works for me is thinking about how food is something you to need to live, not live to eat. It makes it easier knowing you are making a choice as to what you put in your body. Noone can make you stick to your diet, it's more mental than anything. If you can just start on the right track, once you see some progress you will be much more motivated to stay focused and reach your goal. GOOD LUCK!

Because firstly youre not eating the right foods and when you go on a diet youre starving it of what it's used to.

You should try the slimming world diet or the Hay diet because you are allowed to have sins but also you eat healthily and a good amount. You need to exercise too and if you drink a lot of fizzy drinks and sugary drinks you need to cut them out of your diet as they contain a lot of sugar.

You can eat what you like as long as you stay within your points, you could allow yourself a certain amount of points a day for a chocolate bar or even eat the weight watchers ones which will be less points that the normal ones and the taste GREAT!!

I have been doing weight watchers for 3 weeks and have lost 10lb! - my biggest weakness was crisps so i have 1 bag a day from the weight watchers range and only use up 1 point!!!

Try it - if you do it right i guarentee that it will work!!!
