I expect the list to be long...well...most of you people won't admit to it, huh?
I already served six years in the military, my wife served three. We have done our time. Neither one of us supports the Iraq war.
Why? It was based on lies, from a CIC on a personal vendetta.
By telling us that Saddam was acquiring yellow-cake from Nigeria, he got much of Congress to green-light his war in Iraq.
That turned out to be a blatant lie. Please don't question my patriotism because I have misgivings in the competency of our leadership. Love of country, and love of "president", are two separate things.

Olly: it's ok. You are way too young. Enjoy your youth! You may have the chance to serve in the military if you like. It is hard work, yet you meet lots of great people, and you do get a chance to play hard as well. Make that decision when you are older, and do talk it over with your parents. It is best if your parents accept your decision. It makes it easier. I never told my mom...holy cow, she flipped out!

Just Me:
I tried to write you a personal reply to your "attack", but you don't allow e-mail. With that attitude, I probably wouldn't either. Where do you get off? You don't know me, yet you feel free to jump like that? You should really do a little self-evaluation: people of all stripes walk this planet. There had better be room for more than "Just Me", and little clones "Just Like Me".
Obviously, you don't know much about the military, at least in the 1990's. An enlistment period of 3 years was minimum. I happened to stay in 6. What's it to you? We decided to get out of the military so we could enjoy our lives together. Again, what's it to you?
If you are filled with hate, again, I encourage you to do a little self-evaluation. Maybe take a walk. Ask yourself, "do I really want to come across like such an evil and spiteful person?"
Because, that's what we see from our end of your "attack".
Have a nice day.

Jefferson:
You are the only one who admitted to being eligible, yet didn't sign up. Kudos. While I don't really understand your reasoning, I'm not here to attack anyone, although quite a few felt free to attack me.

i did my time as well. i expect you won't get many takers responding to your question. some will attack you for not believing support for president and country are the same thing. as a vet your opinion matters, never forget that.

I too love this country. have often wondered..."why was i born here, what would i be doing if i were born in (fill in the blank)" It's such a blessing to live in this country, that it's often overlooked as just another day. I find myself doing the same thing. back to your question. I like to keep my mind open. Even deep down inside i try not to judge people by there covers. People say it's an abmiral quality i have. But i have had the tuffest time trying to figure out whether i agree with the war. On one hand, i think we obviously had to take action after 9/11, or we would be caught with our pants at our ankles later and pay for it. I also think it was a good thing that we tryed/are trying to liberate the middle east. A somewhat murderess dictator isn't the best way to go in my opinion. On the other had, i think that the conflict could have been handled a little diferent, and could have had the same results we were looking for. But we can't change the past, and we can't even atempt too. So what happend is that we ended up makeing decisions that lead to othere decisions, and now we are at war in the middle east. So some parts of why we are at war i think are ok, but some of our reasons for staying there i don't quite get. But on that note, i don't think it's a good idea to pull thousands of troups at once, or even over a moderate length of time, it must be over a long long long period of time.
In the future, i would like to find myself in one of the fields of military, but i am not yet of age (age 15, some may think i'm a little nieve, or not knowing enough to say "hey i could fight for our country" but i assure you, i have a higher IQ than 90% of the country at 15, that equals genius if you didn't catch that {i just suck at spelling}, i'm smart enough to know what i can do what i can't do, what is right and what is wrong. The decisions i make are not unresearched, and are not 'half baked.' ). When i am of age, enlisting will be one of my first choices, but i want to make sure i have a future after military service. I know the military will pay way through collage, and that can be an option too. Also, if some kind of huge country changing event happens with the war in the middle east, that requires a draft, i would not hesitate even a second to enlist, whether i am drafted or not. It would be my first priority if that happend. Either way, i definatly support our troups, and some parts of the war.

if you done your time then you no that there is a lot of good we are doing and to ask a question like this is asking for it. Its not should we be there but more of a question of should I be there. And I say yes. If you have done your so called time then you would know this its not I am not going because of our President I am going because I manned up and signed the paper knowing what could happen. Folks like you that do attack those of use that support our troops and other vets are a straight up disgrace.
Seabee for life.

So what'd your wife do to get kicked out? Or did you just knock her up so she could get out?
I really don't believe either of you were in. If you were you'd know more about the things that went on prior to the war. Or maybe you were just a personnel or computer guy who never left an office.
I was in for 4 years as a cop. Things were going on long before this war. My husband is still in 11 1/2 years and about to re-up yet again while he's deployed!
What part of the above is an attack? The fact that I don't believe you or you wife was ever military? So what branch were you guys in? Still don't believe you. That is not an attack, just what I think. Your post is an attack within itself, trying to say that you and your wife were in the military and both say the war is illegal. Once again, I just don't believe you.
I didn't call you any names, you called me plenty. I did serve in the 90's under Clinton. I had a security clearence, so I heard in our briefings what was really going on in the world while he was in office. He ignored so much and just dumped it on Bush so it'd look like it all happened after Bush, but IF you were really in you'd know and understand that. That's why I think you weren't in.

I have 6 days before I leave for basic, so you know where you can stick it.
As for the whole "based on lies" blah blah stuff, it's amazing how you rewrite history to suit your perception of reality, ignoring EVERYTHING said and done before the war.
Read the first responder's answer. He is absolutely right. Not only that, but all those quotes were from democrats! HAHA. So easy is it to cover up that yellow stripe.
I'm glad you served, that's a great thing. But using your service as a means to guard yourself from realizing what little imaginary world you live in is absolutely ridiculous.

So, if you support abortion, does that mean you should volunteer to have one ?
if you support gay marriage, does that mean you should go get married to a gay person?
if you support aids research, does that mean you should volunteer to be a test patient?
I'm just wondering why, no one ever says people should actually do anything, because they support something else,
But we get about 5 people a week, trying to say that people who support helping Iraq, should enlist in the military.
I sure don't remember liberal's flooding the enlistment office to go serve in bosnia, kosavo or haiti.
Where was chelsea in 1998 ?
And on your quote about Bush saying Iraq got yellow cake from Niger, got Congress to green light the war.
Congress voted on the Iraq war resolution in Oct 2002,
Bush mentioned the British intelligence saying iraq had tried to buy Uranium from Africa ( not yellow cake, not niger ) in his State of the Union Speech in Jan 2003.
So exactly how did a speech made in 2003, effect a vote taken in 2002 ?
And you do know, we found 1.8 million metric tons of yellow cake and 500 tons of unrefined uranium at the Tuwaitha Nuclear Research Center south of Bagdad.
There are plenty of reasons to be against the war in Iraq, so why lie and make up fake reasons ?

I was against going into Iraq or Afghanistan, but, now that we're there, I support fighting to win.
I'm not eligible to enlist - not healthy for the army, not young enough for any other branch.
The Nigerian thing was discreadited /at the time/ it was old intelligence, already known to be bad, it is not the reason Congress voted for the war.

I tried to enroll but they wouldn't take me because of my hearing (I don't have much left). So I'm sitting here in a pointless low paying job wasting my best years and watching my brain rot.
