Good places are usually bath rooms and wash rooms. Bath rooms are a place where an oder is usually not out of place, and they make some flushable litters. Otherwise, washrooms are a good place too.
Some people have cat doors to a garage and put the litter box out there as well, howere there are many chemicals that are uaually placed in the garage making it a possible dangerous location.

I have a coat closet in my front entryway. I don't use it to store coats, instead I put up a few shelves to hold animal food and litter.
On the floor in there, I put the litterbox. I have a little hook between the door and the door jam that keeps the door from closing all the way. It is just wide enough for the cats to enter.
It works pretty good smell wise and it keeps the litter mess contained to one area.
If I didn't have that coat closet then I would probably keep the litterbox in the bathroom.
I hope that helped! Good luck!

My house is very small and only one story, so I keep a litterbox in the laundry room, which is pretty much the central location in our home.
At our cabin in TN, it's three stories (but very narrow), so I keep one litterbox on the main floor by the laundry room, and another on the bottom floor outside the bathroom. The top floor is small and nothing but a small living room and a bathroom, and he's rarely up there, so I don't keep any litterbox there.

I keep it in the laundry room kinda beside the dryer so that when my dryer dries the scent from the dryer sheets covers up the smell, but i also use tidy cats no odor litter.

Unfortunately I'm in a SMALL apartment. So I have no choice but to keep it in my bedroom. I do keep it in the corner with a shelf on one side of it so it is somewhat secluded & it is a covered litter box w/ liners & I use the Tidy Cat's Small Spaces Litter.

I keep ours in bathroom, seems like the right place. But I've seen alot of people have them in places like the living room and kitchen....but I think the bathroom is the best place...give the cat a little privacy!

I have an end table that has a door to the back and one to the front. The litter box fits inside and the back door is left open. It is kept very clean and if you didn't see my cat you wouldn't know I had one.
