I completely agree with you. I'm sad to say that there ARE Christians in the world who feel it's okay to pass judgment on others. However, it's not our place to do nor is it they way God called us to live. He calls us to love just as Christ loved and that means everyone: murderers, adulterers, homosexuals, drunkards, etc. Yes, He does advise that we should not live that type of lifestyle, but that doesn't give Christians the right to condemn those who do. Therefore, I completely understand why so many people are angry and frustrated with Christians. I myself am a believer and do my best to love everyone, but I'm human and I do fail at that every now and then. It's then that I try to convey to others that "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven."
The link below is to my Myspace blog. I posted something I read from some other guy's blog regarding how the word "Christian" is a great noun, but poor adjective. It's very insightful, so check it out.

It is possible to love and not let someone walk all over you or others. We are not to sit silent while the world destroys itself and takes the innocent with it. Love, the love of God, is the reason any Christian speaks out against the things that are wrong. Forgiveness can be given without being asked for, but when Christians come up against evil in any form, it's not about forgiveness but about right and wrong. You made such a blanket statement that I have to qualify my answer by saying it's never right to discriminate unneccesarilly. But, there are times when it is for the protection of the whole. That liberal bias that denies a need ever for discrimination is just foolishness. We discriminate everyday in our daily lives on behalf of our children for one. You don't just let your kids go off with anyone do you? And I bet I could come up with a couple of profiles that you would go by. In your statement I think you use the word discriminate wrongly. I think you are referring to something more like judging or saying they have less value because of their beliefs or lifestyle. Again, not so. Christians have a Book of instructions by which they measure activities, beliefs, customs, etc. We are told to test the spirits on all things. Not on people, but on the activities which people are involved. I'm sure you've heard a Christian, somewhere/sometime say"Love the sinner-hate the sin". This is what every Christian is ordained to do by the Holy Word of God. Some Christians are more vocal and less tactful than others, I admit. And some are less than compassionate when they denounce another's belief or activity. That goes to personality defects rather than religion. There are those types in every group of anything that involves humans.
One more thing I must point out is your erroneous accusation of the Christians against the Jews. If anyone on earth is sympathetic with the Jews, it's the Christians. If you find one that isn't.....then you can assume they are not really Christian. We are told by God Himself to love and care for the Jews and to bless them. He actually curses those who don't.
Love is a choice you make and is not contrary to having a belief that the object of your love is involved in something wrong.

Did you really think being Christian makes one Christ -like. Being all knowing is a big help when trying to be Christ-like. Humans are human and fear of the unknown dominates. Any group you do not understand causes anxiety and that often manifests as distrust. And of course historical animosity is passed down by parents and grandparents. Damn Catholics wouldn't let Henry get divorced... Anglicans. Anglicans were damn sinners....Protestants. Protestants were damn sinners....Puritans. Witches...I hates me some Witches. Have a laugh and don't expect perfection.

Well, the problem here is that Christ-fundies are very good at selective reading, as well as ignoring glaring oxymorons.
They will quote Jesus saying "hate the sin, love the sinner" and say "we don't hate you, we just hate everything about you". There's really a question about the Bible needing to be revised a few more times.

It's loving to let someone know that they are doing something self destructive and don't know it.
It should be done in love, but it should be done.
I'm not sure what specific instances of discrimination you are referring to, so I can't answer them. People who call themselves Christians do act very unChristian. It's the nature of men.

being a christian doesn't "fix" you. people are still people whether they believe in God or not. BUt you are right, Christians are supposed to Love everyone, especially their enemies unconditionally. however many people still struggle with that. Doesnt mean being a christian is wrong, it just means that people are people like everyone else.

I can't address the fundamentalists hate for other denominations but, I can say that the love is unconditional but the salvation is not. Many people will go to Hell because they chose to go there because they did not return the love and God will be sad but, he will let them go.

Yes! He did mean everyone. We may not agree and like what some people do, but we should love them, if only because they are one of God's created beings.

I agree. But i can love you without agreeing with your beliefs. i can argue against your views while still loving you.
I know we can sometimes seem judgemental, this is usually unintentional. if it is intentional then that person should remember that we're nothing but sinners saved by the grace of God. Its up to God to judge..NOT us.
God bless
