Religion should be abolished. Religions are all man made dogma designed to control the sheeple and collect their money.

Humals are social creatures. It has helped our species to evolve and fluorish. Our social structure aids in developing intelligese. With intellegense comes the ability to question meaning. When we question the meaning of ourselves we find that science may explain the how but it leaves our social nature feeling lonely and scared. Religion is a response to feelings of want and confusion. Why do we need love if we have science and technology. Seriously the internet and some batteries can take care of most physical urges. Are love and relationships NEEDED. Yes. Belief in a greater power allows one to stop pondering the unanserable. Why? why? why? God made it that way..Ok. Religion is a slightly different thing for everyone. How much are you willing to ask and answer for yourself before you say "God said so" and relax. Major organized religions are full of those who said, "I don't want to think about that, these guys have a good enough answer, I'll join them". If you have enough time and enough courage then you can exist without religion but then you are forever pondering the questions for which there are no answers. It's fun, I like it. Good luck, I hope you don't find an answer. The journey is worth the trip.

Humans do not control their own lives whether you believe it or not. God is ultimately in control of everything and everybody. Sorry Charley.
Giving up control of my life is actually gaining control of my life. I can't do it alone. God does exist (you can't prove he doesn't) so my beliefs are my problem, not yours.
Do you worship and love science & technology? Are they there for you when you are down and out. Do they comfort you when you are sad? Can they give you eternal life? Do they promise to always be by your side?
Science and technology are important but God is the one who gave those people a mind to figure it out in the first place. They walk around all hoity toity thinking that they are "all that" because they are so smart and give no thanks to the one who made them that way in the first place. Talk about foolish.

Science and Technology only go so far, besides, there are no absolutes in either. Religion is a part of the comforting of a human being, and it is something that has been around just as long as science has.

Any control you think you have is an illusion.
You have limited control only. You can make decisions, but what control do you have over the outcome of your decisions? You can build a house, but at any moment, a tornado or other natural disaster can take it from you. If a tornado comes, what control do you have over your own life? If some disease overtakes you, what control do you have?
You might have a job, but if you don't serve the boss, you will lose it. We serve our spouses, children, even our pets.
We are being controlled at every minute. Even the state controls us. We serve either willingly or unwillingly. You can decide to break the law, but then you will go to jail, where you are forced to follow the law.
We cannot even control our own body. At some point, your body will force you to excuse yourself to evacuate some liquid. You cannot control the needs of your body. You can choose what food to eat, but you cannot choose NOT to eat.
If we have control over our own lives, who would choose to die with a terrible disease? Who would choose to become old? Who would choose to be born starving? If you have control, then who is it that is forcing you to die?
No. This is illusion. We have limited control. We can choose only our behavior within existing circumstances, but we cannot control our circumstances. We are confined. That is not control, that is response.

Religion is a man made thing. Christianity is a relationship between man and God. As for the science and technology, science is constantly changing what it believes and is often wrong on so many things and as for technology, it is man made and breaks down and wears out and is only temporary. God who is, was, and will always be there, never changes and is always constant

Science cannot replace religion, and religion cannot replace science. Science doesn't give us a spiritual fulfillment. God doesn't control my life. I still choose to do as I wish. The difference is that the main thing that I want is to trust God and to live for him.

there is so much science and technology around that nobody nowadays knows everything (I bet rocket scientists go to a car mechanic if their car is sick or a doctor if they are sick just like everybody else), so it must be kind of consoling there is still a true generalist like god out there.
Meaning you don't really have that much control over your life, you give other people - like your doctor or the car mechanic - control over your life. And do you know who is checking out your IP address just this very second?

Blanket subjective condemnation in the absence of substantive objective data doesn't speak too well for your pretense -- and renders your accusation of foolishness as well as your own projected "control" to be highly dubious.
It's fine and well to believe what you believe but an atheistic slant on interaction doesn't need to get too 'preachy'.

Is that a quote from Adolf Hitler, about 1939?
If you truly think you control your own life, try talking to the 40,000 who died in traffic accidents last year...
I don't give up control, I merely listen to instructions when taking driving lessons.
