Amen!
Boycotting them sounds reasonable and sensible or, as suggested above my response, giving them bad ratings as well.
If they were skilled enough in English to use it properly, they would, instead of making themselves look like complete incompetents by utterly destroying it.
For those who know it and those who don't, enjoy:

Yeah, I do hate that! AMEN to that!
Wavyfingers, it's not just spelling that's the problem. If that was it, I would be fine with it. Some people just have trouble with spelling. But SO many people, especially the 13 year old girls, write in "text message language' cuz they think its cool. It might be cool if they're texting, but this is different. Over here, its just annoying to have to read stuff like that. The occasional "lol" or "plz" is okay when you're tired, but otherwise it does make them look stupid

Considering how many articles I've read about teachers constantly having to tell their students that shorthand or "text-speak" is not acceptable on a graded paper, I say we do away with this illiteracy masquerading itself as counter-culture! Children are no longer learning how to speak or write correctly as it is, so how can they begin to the learn the correct context for which slang and 733t speak is acceptable? In other words, "AMEN!"
Language can be a powerful and wonderful thing; we shouldn't let it die to so-called convenience. If we're going to do that, we might as well all use Newspeak because it's doubleplusgood.

Well sorry buddy but i suppose not everyone is as motivated as you to spell correctly. Just becasue you can spell well does not mean you are smarter than others. Dyslexia (yes i bet i spelled that wrong and im not about to look it up so poor muffin doesnt have to be expossed to something "uncool") A truly intelligent and openminded person would realize that people have different abilities and should all be respected. Just CUZ they cant spell doesnt mean they are dumb, spelling/typing/catering to UR specific needs (needs being that you cant be bothered to decifer modern im lingo) just arent their strong points.
NEWS FLASH BUDDY!!!
These shrthand im words aint going anywhere, they are easier to use and people like using them. If you dont like it, get away from the internet!!!! The whole world is not about to cater to UR likes and dislikes. Amen to that!!! (that being the stament proceding this one)

yes. It is a huge pet peeve of mine. I cannot stand the text chat or the sticky caps everywhere. When talking to close friends and trying to save time in a messenger, I can understand it; but used as common communication it's pretty atrocious.

Absolutely. I can't figure out what the questions are when people do that. It definitely shows signs of a lack of intelligence. I wonder if they speak that way also.

Yes, of course. And that's not only a great idea but is also a smart and intelligent thing to do! I definiteltly think that the way a person expresses him/her self has a diect connection with intelligence.

We could be extra mean and give thumbs down to answers from those who cannot be bothered to spell and use correct grammar.

I've been doing this for a while now. Just ignoring the abbreviations, that is. If it's not worth typing legibly, it's not worth reading.
