I don't feel like you have to. I stayed out of church for years because my church turned into more of a business it seemed like and I felt lost in the crowd and really left more frustrated than inspired. I did ok on my own.

However, recently I found a small local church. . .and I can't tell you the difference it has made in my life. I am active in the church and have found many friends there. . .and there has yet to be a service when I haven't left inspired and uplifted. Sometimes during my Bible study I will feel like I need to move ahead to a different scripture and then go to the next service and that be exactly what the pastor is going to preach on. . .I think when you find the right church you will know with all your heart and you will have a desire to go there not a dread. Good luck to you whatever decision you make.

And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24-25

Fellowship with God must never become selfish. We must also fellowship with other Christians in the local assembly. Apparently, some of the wavering believers had been absenting themselves from the church fellowship. It is interesting to note that the emphasis here is not on what a believer gets from the assembly, but rather on what he can contribute to the assembly.

Faithfulness in church attendance encourages others and provokes them to love and good works. One of the strong motives for faithfulness is the soon coming of Jesus Christ. In fact, the only other place the word translated "assembling" (Heb. 10:25) is used in the New Testament is in 2 Thessalonians 2:1, where it's translated "gathering" and deals with the coming of Christ.

The Bible tells us that whenever two or more are gathered in Gods name we are honoring him. I would love to find a church that does not have it's own agenda. Mainly money. Thank God I am surrounded by a family that believes as strongly as I do. I see miracles happen every day and my soul is at peace. God is in the drivers seat for me and I am so thankful for that. Each day that I live and see the beauty God created for us I am still amazed. I am 61 and in no hurry to die but when my time comes the people who love me know where I will be. All of this in spite of my faults!

I agree with you. I also choose not to go. And do better on my own. For example my husband is a church goer. The one he goes to has so many restrictions that I do not agree with. The members themselves don't follow most of the rules. The pastor is a married man who divorced his first wife mother of his children. After having cheated on her a few times. When he did these things he was supposedly a believer. And a church goer. I will not tolerate someone like that preaching to me. About good and bad.

I love going to church. The Bread of Life, (the meat of it all) and prayer, is what sustains you. Church is like vitamins. You need that boost. What we are really called to do is go out into those streets and spread the gospel.
1st, pray for God to give you direction into the right church. Some are spiritually dead. You need to find one where His presence is there. Once you get rejuvinated, hit those streets! The most powerful thing is being used by the Holy Spirit.

For me, it is very necessary. The Bible does say, " Forsake not the assembling of yourself together... even more so, as you see the day approaching." Hebrews 10:25. You just have not found the right church yet. Christians draw strength from each other.

There is no such thing as going to church, believers are the church. What we should be doing is going or coming to Christ. If you are reading your bible and obeying the things of God through Christ Jesus, you do not have to go. If you go your going to set an example of what a true believer is. One that loves the Lord and his fellowman. If you do not get something, take something with you and spread it around so that all men will know that you are my disciple.

It is necessary to go to Church. It is where we meet God and talk to Him. In the Catholic Church Jesus is truly present in the tabernacle where He is there with His Body and Blood. You have to find a church where you can know that God is truly present there physically with His real Presence, with His Body and Blod Soul and Divinity. You can find Him in most Catholic Churches inside the tabernacles. In the consecration, the host is transformed into the real Body and Blood of Christ and there are Eucharistic miracles to prove this fact. God bless you.

The bible says not to forsake the assembly of believers. Being with other people can be difficult, but it's important.

Every member of the Body of Christ has specific gifts, callings, and understanding. Together we share what we have been given and build each other up.

If you're having trouble with your specific congregation, pray about it. Then find someone you trust, an elder or pastor, and talk with them about your difficulties.

Paul tells us to "forsake not the assembling of ourselves together." Keep searching for a Bible believing church that you feel comfortable worshiping together with other believers in. Check out www.3abn.org
