Two things are supposed to be remembered on the Sabbath:

- that God created the world
- the Exodus from Egypt

Christians are not obligated to observe the sabbath.
Only a few things brought through from the old Mosiac Law are binding to Christians. The Sabbath is not one of them.
Tithing is not either by the way.

Therefore, there is no reason for the 'sabbath to be remembered', if you are talking in terms of a ritual or such.

God started the Sabbath rest in to follow His week of creation. He gave us that pattern and it is repeated throughout scripture.

It's one of the ten commandments. It is meant to be a wonderful rest of our responsibilities and a time to reflect on life and enjoy our families. It's a blessing.

So that the Israelites would remember who their God was: The God who created all things, and the God who saved them from the slavery of Egypt.

Problem was, they still forgot who their God was, but at least they remembered the sabbath....

Big deal

They ended up worshiping the law instead of God.

In the Old Testament it was required by the Lord to acknowledge His Divinity. Hence, it was on the seventh day - Saturday.

In the New Testament it is to reverence the Resurrection and Honor the Lord for His sacrifice. This changed the day of worship to Sunday - the first day.

God set 1 day a week aside for man to get rest and to honor Him. He created man with the need for both in order to be healthy mentally, physically, and spiritually.
