I am looking to purchase a new home so that my kids may grow up with the things I never had.

Which is better: Being house poor (unable to afford any additional luxuries) so that they have a nice home and environment to grow up in, or a cheaper home where I can give them what they want, when they want it (provided they earned said want)

A happy family shoudl be your main aim. Being house poor is one of my biggest pet peeves. The kid lives in a 5 bedroom mansion but his dad can't afford the $20 to send him to the zoo with his summer camp?? Get a house you can afford and still be able to keep up with your family. A day spent in a museum or park with your kids is worth all the extra bathroom space in the world, trust me!!!

Good luck ( =

I think that as long as the cheaper house is still decent and it is in an alright area you should go for that one. It is a great thing to be financially secure and you will be able to give your kids plenty of opportunities if you are like traveling, camps/programs, and paying for college. Whatever you decide good luck.

a nice house is not what makes a home,a home is what is on the inside.Growing up i dident have a beautiful house but it was home because of the family.I would rather live in a box on the street with the family that i love then be in a mansion with no body i care about.
