Yes is works. I use it. You feel the burn that you feel with sit ups without the uncomfortableness and back strain.

Yes, it definitely slims the waist down. You have to get the special kind of hula hoop though, with the ridges. It is also pretty heavy. It will hurt at first, but don't let that stop you. After you've gotten used to it, it'll be almost painless, easy, and useful.

I used to until my hula hoop broke. I generally spent about 10 minutes doing it. Sometimes I'd see if I could go an entire tv show without dropping it. But you have to be able to tune the noise of the hula hoop out.

It's fun. Try it.

I've done it before - its a pretty good workout actually, you do get tired especially from picking up the hoop everytime it falls. Its supposed to help your stomach muscles but honestly after 20 minutes my hips are so sore from the hoop hitting them that I cant continue enough to find out.

well, it does burn calories, and it is fun. it works your abbs, but not as much as somthing else would. When you hoolahoop, your abbs are being worked, but not to the extent in which you would burn a major amount of calories. heck, i love to hoolahoop, but when it comes to serious workouts, youd be better off running , doing crunches, kickboxing, yoga or some kind of trenuous workout. Or you could find somthing with the fun of hoolahooping, but the sweat of sit ups. i am a very athletic person, and to stay in shape, i swim. Maybe you could just take up a sport you like.
