Any juvenile arrest will be on file although sealed.
Any adult or juvenile adjudicated record is fully available.
Depends on what kind of job you are after as to how comprehensive the background check will be.
But, do not lie on the application, like if it asks if you have ever been convicted of a crime, be honest. Because, if they find out you are gone.

Your criminal record stays the way it is forever. In Evansville, Indiana, my driving crime(DUI) was not even on the report. I asked the cops why and they said they didn't put driving offenses on background checks. I don't know what your locale does but go get a copy for yourself and see what is says. I got a copy for $7.00 and just walked in and asked the receptionist for a copy of my police record that is shown to companies doing background checks. Then, you can hire an attorney if you want to and try to modify the sentence or have a felony reduced to a misdemeanor. Since you are a veteran and have turned your life around you say, they may be receptive to it unless it was a quite serious crime. (By the way, whenever I sent in a resume and then was called for an interview and they gave me an application and it asks if I was ever arrested, I've always put no down and they have never either cared or checked.)

Your criminal record shows everything you did and the outcome of the cases. However, you can get most things expunged if they happened before your 18th birthday. Other things can get expunged through the courts. Not everything is expungable unless you are the chimp - then your daddy pays to get it expunged or removed. Yes, I know that our criminal justice system is not fair and those with the right credentials can get things removed you and I could not. If you have stayed clean for a certain amount of time, some courts will see the fact that you have changed and are now an upstanding citizen. Good luck!

Things generally stay forever. The good news is that many companies don't do too deep of background checks (unless you are going to work with kids, the government, ect)

Everything appears on background checks: whether you were a victim of something or the suspect, it's all there. I see background checks all the time, as part of my job, and believe me things are in there going back MANY years.

Use INFO Link (www.infolink.com) and also look at your credit report! I almost did not get a job cuz of that.
By law, empoyers have to show you the report and you can write and request things are taken off and or try to get your records sealed. Good luck - write a lot of letters.

It stays on your record for life...your best bet would be to contact an attorney...if your descretions were minor a judge may agree to have your record expunged if you can show you turned your life around

Since you say you were in the military, your record can't be all that bad. Just apply for jobs and when asked in interviews about your past, just simply say you were young and stupid.
