Why do athesist seem to dislike christians more?

I use to go to the christian chat rooms. I noticed after becoming friends with several athesist and agnostics that they tend to want to argue with christians more than any other religion. I went to muslim rooms, jewish,hindus,buddhist. And never were the athesist would come in there. I asked my friend one day why come in here all the time? Why not the hindus or something they got thousands of gods? He said christians were more fun to aggravate. So why is it? What is it about us christians that seem to be a magnet why dont athesist and agnostics ever talk about the other religions?

Alot of good answers. But aint it wrong to judge a few due to a few bad apples. Also in the christian faith we are required to at least tell of the good news but we are not to push I agree. I plant the seed and move on. As far as us making huge decisions in the government what decisions? We have rights to voice our beliefs just like anyone else. But even though majority of christians are against abortions and gay marriages they are still happening. So we should just not say a word and live in the shadows.Thats not very american. But when we say what we believe we are pushy but people can make fun and attack our beliefs we are to take it.I agree with seperation of church and state I vote based on the best person not there religious beliefs. I dont agree with the fundie movement to be honest so is it fair to judge all of us? Would it be fair for me to say all athesist hate christians? I just dont understand we are to be quiet in the us but everyone else can have an opinion.

Once again its obvious we have made no major decisions in government. We fight for what we believe and have every right too. Also those who are x christians should know we are required to share the good news but not to force. We are to plant a seed and water it and move on. I agree with many of u using a fire hose to water is pointless. But not all of us are like that.But someone said we are the least making sense religion HELLO hidus believe in 1000's of gods we only have one.

The ones like him are doing the same thing many of u oppose. Hes triing to push his belief and because we wont accept. I am glad he spoke he made my point. Its a two way street. Athesist and agnostics along with every religion have the right in the U.S.A have the right to speak and say what they belief. We wont always agree or accept the others belief but we ALL have every right to believe and speak our beliefs.

These are the reasons why:

- They don't comprehend the true theory behind evolution
- They keep suggesting direct evolution from monkeys
- They keep using the wrong scientific facts (our closest descendent is the pig WRONG, it is the bonobo)
- They use faith to justify against every logical arguement put forward
- They base their arguements on a book written by an unknown author, without reliable sources
- They are too closed minded to even consider the facts
- They have no gratitude to the work of many scientists who have made their lives so much better
- They are ignorant of the current affairs in science

Please note that not all of these apply to all Christians, however at least one has applied to somebody's past answers.

Christians are an alright bunch of people, its their answers that are not.

Upon the reading of the new material here it is clear to me.
The logic of my belief cannot coexist with one based on faith. Any attempt of application is seen as a threat against freedom . I understand now the futility of it all, all discussion is pointless.

1. Most active atheists on the internet used to be Christians, so are more familiar with (and have suffered more harm from) Christians than other religions.

2. Not all Jews or Buddhists actually believe in any gods, so it's not going to be unacceptable within those chat rooms.

3. Atheists are more likely to target any religion that wishes to impose religious rules on non-believers. This describes primarily Christians and Muslims. Muslims are becoming greater targets, but they're still relatively rare in Y!A's R&S section.

Probably because Christianity interjects more into our daily lives than the other religions do. It is mainly Christians who are still using the government to try to control people's lives by saying gay people can't get married, women can't get abortions, etc. I am sure there are a few out there that are Muslims, Jewish, etc that fall under this category, but they usually mind their own business, while Christians feel it their duty to control people's daily lives through politics. Also many of us were raised Christian and are still dealing with long term psychological damage done, and that is their/our way of dealing with it.

I don't dislike Christians. I dislike people trying to convert me or who are homophobic, bigoted, etc. If you're a Christian and you're not trying to convert me or tell me hateful things such as gay people will go to hell, then great, I'd LOVE to talk to you.

Of course I'm going to be annoyed with anyone closed-minded. The problem is, lots of Christians are closed minded (not all, just quite a few). I don't have any personal experience with Muslims trying to convert me (or any other religion for that matter). I've had extremely pleasant conversations with Buddhists who seem to be the most peaceful people around. Why would I be annoyed by religions that don't bother me?

Keep in mind, I used to be a Christian and my extended family members are still Christians. So, I don't hate ANY of them! I just don't agree with their hypocrisy and when they try to witness to me.

I'm an agnostic and I don't necessarily dislike christians but I think that christians (at least the ones I know) tend to push their religion on people and it just gets annoying really fast. I have nothing against what anyone believes in but I think they should just let people believe what they want to believe and stop trying to convert everyone

I generally visit this forum only to answer questions about my personal take on atheism. I don't personally know any other atheists, so I can speak only for myself. I try to do so with kindness and courtesy. I certainly hope that my voice is not one of those to which you refer.

Chat rooms and talk sites are full of provocateurs who like to exploit the vulnerabilities in those with whom they disagree. The relative anonymity within these forums combines with the tendency to attract younger users to bring out the worst of immature behavior, mostly aggressive rudeness and acting-out. Atheists are not immune to these temptations.

I have noticed, though, that the atheists in R&S tend to write much better than the general population on Y!A, and that suggests to me that atheists are older and better educated than most. Hopefully, that will enable you to read our posts without becoming too agitated.

I live in the US. Christians are the majority. So, I tend to discuss religious topics with Christians. When Muslims pipe up and try to preach to me, I discuss it with them as well. Buddhists and Hindus and Jews hardly EVER preach at others.

I dsilike your religion more for sure. I respect the others even if I don't agree with them. The first reason is obvious, christianity is constantly trying to change society according to their beliefs, and don't care about anyone else's. But another reason is that the religion is TOTALLY hypocritical. At elast in other religions, most seem to make an effort to follow their own doctrine. It has been my experience that that is NOT the case with christianity.

I believe it is because, on the whole, Christians tend to want to spread their beliefs in a more aggressive manner than other religions. Atheists are naturally going to react. When one pushes, the other pushes back.
