Wow. What a great question. If you want to know, I am known to do both depending on the passage of the song. If I am not singing, I usually take a deep breath through my nose while expanding my tummy. But the danger is that infamous "sniff" sound. You don't want to do that when you are about to project a note. One con from breathing in the mouth is that gasping sound. One must practice to be silent in breathing. Fill up with air without being noisy! You can take a deep full breath with depth without sounding like you are sniffing something that stinks, or without sounding like you are in shock from the mouth.

In my opinion, you do what is best for you at the time. You will find yourself doing both depending on the entrances or the mood of the song. There is actually a big aria that I sung this weekend where it caused me to do both. Let me explain. When the music began, I mentally prepared my mind to go into character, and I took my DEEP breathe in my nose without the audience seeing me take a dramatic breathe. But as the song progressed, and I had to lament in the section of the song with the word Ah back to back, I breathed through my mouth for the dramatic effect of the song. If one is grieving, you are not going to see them let out a lamenting sound of AH after breathing through the nose. So I do both when it is fitting. Some say only from the nose, some say only through the mouth. But I say it varies. What works for you in the passage of the song, do it. Just make sure whatever breath you take, that is is properly placed and not shallow. That is more important than anything.

Take a breath through your nose and sing it out through your mouth

Definitely breathe in through your nose- breathing through your mouth dries out your vocal membranes, which is why you get a sore throat when you have a cold. When singing, breathe in through your nose and exhale by using your diaphragm muscles to puch out the air to make the sound. Try to time your breaths to breaks in the song so you don't have to break up a note by breathing.

It is easier for me when im singing to breathe through my mouth, because i can sing longer (and it takes too long to breathe through my nose)

Breathe in through your nose and out with ONLY your mouth. Too many singers will create a nasal sound when they exhale by breathing out with their nose. Don't do it!

Reverberate from your throat, expell through your mouth. Your nose should have nothing to do with the final sound that comes out.

...through your mouth.

you get a deeper breath, so you have better support...

and breathing though your nose DURING the song is awkward..but you can breathe through your nose for the opening breath...you just won't get as much air.

If you want to know a very good vocal coach try to visit https://tr.im/58aLt an online vocal coaching tutorial. Everything, ranging from breathing fundamentals, vocalizing exercises, techniques on singing high and low notes, how to not go off-key/out of tune/off-sync, musicianship and music theory, proper diction and articulation, and a lot more are covered, all in our native language. It can be quite technical in nature, but it really helps since it covers the musical aspect of singing deeply and not just concentrates on how to impress people with your vocal range, riffs and runs and other cliches that do not necessarily make one a complete vocalist.

During heavy exercise its recommended to breath IN by your NOSE (to filter it) and OUT via your MOUTH (to allow for higher air flow and help cool you). otherwise breathing through your nose is recommended as those hairs filter out junk that would otherwise clog your lungs.

Breathe through your nose. It fills up your diaphragm and gives you more control and power.
Hope this helps!
