to make a tv hd ready it needs three things:-

at least 720 resoulation
component input
digitial input ( hdmi , or on early model dvi ( mainly phillps for some unknown reason !!!))

nowadays you can't buy a tv without it having hdmi ( high def media interface ) on it.

So basicialy they are the same thing.

To be honest, a plasma should only be labelled HD ready if it had an HDMI port. A lot of TVs are being labelled HD ready purely on their screen resolution. As long as a TV has a horizontal resolution of at least 720, it qualifies as HD ready and can display high definition TV broadcasts.

HOWEVER, it needs an HDMI connection to display HD media from other sources, for instance, HD DVD. If your TV doesn't have an HDMI socket, you will only be able to connect your HD DVD player/PS3/etc through the conventional leads, which don't support high definition transfer. So you can get HD TV, but not HD DVD.

They both stand for high definition but the only difference is what connection you use to get the HD SIGINAL meaning there are the regular cable wires or the HDMI Cable wires which just show you a bit more clarity but not much to actually make a huge difference

HD READY means they will use one of 3 components to receive the the hd signal

Component cables , AV CABLES, OR HDMI CABLES

HDMI READY means it is just letting you know that it does specifically have the HDMI attachments for it if you ever want to buy the cables for it , thats it

because some tv's don't come with the hdmi cable attachments so then you cant use the hdmi cables for it,

kk hope i helped

you can input HD into an HD ready set via three sources-component (usually 720p) DVI and HDMI. some sets are only equipped with DVI. so if you see a set that says "HDMI HD READY" on it this means the tv is equipped with HDMI inputs. though it should be noted that some sets that have HDMI do not actually say this on the sets facia-the only legal requirement being the "HD READY" logo.

HDMI is a new connector often to be found at HD screens. The big advantage is that such a connector is digital.
HDMI can utilize PureVideo to decode SD/HD videostreams extremely well.
Setup a PC with this and connect to a 43"HD-ready screen and see the difference.

The tv may or may not have HDMI inputs on the back.

plasma has the more glossy finish to it that i really like, HD usually has to be ordered through your dish company or cable company without ordering it the tv is really not worth the picture quality. plasma's are higher priced.
