Sounds like you have a kitten because adult cats typically wouldn't be able to get a good enough grip to support their body weight on curtains. Don't worry, your kitten will grow out of it, but cats do love to climb up high. You should consider getting a cat tree for your cat. The best ones are about 6 feet tall and have scratching posts wrapped with sisal rope and some perches at different height levels. Cats love these for playing or sleeping or just viewing their world from up high. It'll also save your furniture and your kitty's precious paws from getting declawed! Good luck.

LOL! Been there, done that. Isn't it a great stage? ;)

Make sure your cat has plenty of things to do to amuse itself. If you see it contemplating climbing the curtain, get a wand-type toy and use that to play with your cat. Usually after after about 15 to 20 minutes of non-stop play, they'll be tired out.

Also make sure your cat has plenty of places it is allowed to climb. If you're able, buy a nice, tall cat tree. The taller the better. Especially with young cats, they seem to have moments where they think they're leopards or something, and feel the need to use their claws to climb as high as they can possibly get.

You can clip your cat's nails as well.. dull nails usually prevents them from climbing curtains.

You can spray your cat with water when it's climbing up as well.. just make sure your cat doesn't know it's you that did it, or it'll just climb the curtains when it knows you're not around.

Really, the best thing to do is just make sure your cat is entertained. Bored cats are troublemakers.

Spray it with water. Cat's hate water and a few times of this and he/she will get the hint you don't want it climbing your curtains.

Get a spray bottle of water and spray your cat each time the cat is around the curtains. It may take a wk or 2 but it will stop doing that.

My cat loves to scratch the corner of my coach, thats what I have done and she has stpped going around that area!!!

Try applying claw covers if it is a constant indoor cat. You can get them at any pet store and they are very easy to apply.

Cats like being up high to see things better and feel superior. For indoor cats, declaw is a good idea.

Get a squirt gun and try to catch him/her each time they try to climb a no-no. A quick shout in conjunction with the squirt can also allow for times when the squirt gun isn't handy.
