Yes, the Tiburon is a very nice sport car for the money, its been one of the most reliable Hyundai models for years now. I would definitely go with the V6 model as it has the pep needed for that sporty feeling. The car gets good gas mileage, requires little maintenance and will last you a very long time. There's really not much competition in the sporty car segment under $25K, but still its a great that the Tiburon is so good looking.

I have a 2003 Tiburon bough new in July 2002. In Oct. 2002 in a accident, rear ended and shoved into another car and was more then just a bump. They are not cheaply made and the car did better then larger cars do in an accident. I now have 43,000 miles on it, drive it harder than most people will drive it, have the V6 2.7L engine and had it up to 127MPH and still going. I get 24 to 30 MPG depending on speed driving (24 MPG on interstate driving at least 80 MPH) The engine is small but is faster than some small V8 engines. I have not had any major problems, it does not use oil and yes, if to do over I would buy the car again. This car is not for my major transportation, just a toy for me so I don't care if I tear it up and must say the car is doing great. So again would I buy another Hyundai, yes I would. One more thing for people who think the Tiburon is a light car.. check it out, they are not.. it is 300 pounds lighter than my bigger car.. per square inch it would be heavier than my big car.

When it comes done to it they are good cars back in the day they were junk but they came along way and now they are good reliable cars so i guess like anything they had to work out the bugs and now they are good and as far as the 3 clutches there was an issue where the 03 tiburon's clutch would blow out and they remanufactued the parts and took care of it there was a big lawsuit and everything but it's resolved and they've moved on.

I have a 2003 that now has 45,000 miles on it. I drive it hard and fast and it does not use oil. I have less problems with it than I do my so called American made car. It has the V6 in it and is not a slow car. Will take some small V8 cars and let me tell you it does make them mad when they get out run. I will continue to drive it hard and fast as I do not care if it doesn't stand up as I have plenty of cars to chose from to drive. Of all the cars I have and had in the past, the Tiburon V6 and my Chevy V6 has taken the most abuse and still run great.

2003 Tib's had "newmodelitis" meaning the first year a new generation or model car that is out it may have some problems the manufacture didn't foresee. It happens to ALL car manufactures. As time passes the manufacturer will address the problems and fix them going forward. That's why you hear a 2003 car may have a lot of problems but nothing for years afterward (Example the Tiburons). Tibs are fine fun to drive cars with a lot of upgradable potential.

Bought a 2001 Tiburon in march of 2001. I have 69,000 miles on it. Just replaced the driver window regulator. Outside of that just normal maintenance.... oil changes, tires etc. It is my third Hyundai. When I replace it eventually it will be with another Hyundai.

On my second one now, they are nice cars. Even if you have problems you have one of the best warranties you can get. They are gutless stock, the V6 they offer is one of the smallest and weakest on the market. But they do have a lot of potential, if your into that kinda thing, you can get alot of HP out of the stock block.
As far as the multiple clutch replacements from the previous answerer, im assuming your friend has the newest body style, which dropped in 03, so even if he has had that car for four years, if he has gone through 3 clutches then he needs to learn how to drive, thats not the cars problem.

My moms BF has a 2006 GT version of it. It's automatic so the clutch inst a problem. So far he hasn't had any problems with it but then again he only put 3k miles per year on it.
It's really fast also. It's got dual headers - really loud. Nice car.
