How can you say everything at the core of a person, who they love, how they show their love, who they chose to have a fully committed realtionship with, everything that makes them who and what they are, is a sin.

Then turn around and say that you are not saying the person is a sin?

Usually the people that think homosexuality is a sin are the same people that think it is not genetic, that they are not born that way.

Really the only reason people believe it is a sin in the first place is because of a tiny passage in the book Leviticus which also says some other ridiculous things like it is wrong to have sex with a woman that is menstruating.

Another bit of info that I thought people might be interested in. It is an article by a Southern Baptist minister who USED to be an "ex-gay."

I found it very sincere and informative.

This is another good one concerning the "born that way" theory.

- A Christian who believes it is not a sin to be as the Lord made you

Also, can people please stop making assumptions about Christians already? It's very rude and makes you look like an a**hole.

As it stands right now, there isn’t a solitary piece of evidence that indicates gayness is a “choice.” We can even observe “gay” behavior in other species as well as other primates. And on the face of it, you’d have to be pretty silly to accept the absurd notion that some 10% of the population would “choose” to be effectively ostracized, ridiculed, and otherwise abused by their blindly bigoted “brethren.”.

But I would take it one step further. Can there be a more trivial concept of the CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE than one who concerns itself with the sexual behavior of his creatures? Why is it so difficult to see the obvious? Forget the knee-jerk bigoted response of the ignorant - especially to people outside the “accepted main-stream,” what exactly is it that offends this of that god about gay behavior? If you can’t see that these idiotic taboos are nothing more than the agenda of primitive scribes, then you need to do a little more research.

It is known that some people have a propensity to be an alcoholic or obese. SO being born with this predisposition is not a sin, but getting drunk, giving in to your addiction to alcohol, over eating, and gluttenous behavior is a sin. Getting angry is not a sin, but letting that anger control you to the point of murder is a sin. Likewise, being attracted to someone is not a sin, but giving into those temptations is the sin. Being attracted to someone that is not my wife is not a sin, but leaving my wife (or not leaving) and having sex with that other woman is a sin. Being gay or attracted to someone of the same sex is not a sin, but having sexual relations with someone of the same sex is a sin.

I dont equate "gay lifestyle" with "gay sex". Can you live the gay lifestyle and not have gay sexual relations? Yes, just like I could live a str8 lifestyle and not have str8 sexual relations.

As Christians we have to separate the sin from the sinner. We can love the sinner and hate the sin. We can condone the person and love them without agreeing with their choices and actions.

I hope this helps give insight into my beliefs and thoughts.

Well nobody is born gay, that's just like said above, a choice, since we are born with free will.

The gay lifestyle is a sin, and the bible mentions that. The person cant be himself or herself a sin, because people can change and that person can stop being gay or lesbian and actually cleanse themselves of sin, and start walking down a holy path.

Sin will never change or be holy.

God loves the individual but hates the sin.

There are men in high church positions that I know, who gave up this lifestyle and repented of that nature.

If it is not according to natural order or God's will in his creation plan, than it is as a result of sin.

I did not have any problem with someone who has this lifestyle in my past. I got a wake up call when I started reading the Holy Bible. After discovering what God said and did about it, I could no longer accept it as being okay or alternative or in-born or even to defended it. To defend it is to go against the will of God and conscience.

Though I will not defend it, I still treat the individual with respect and the right to live at peace without persecution. But I will not encourage it.

Yeah, that is a bit ridiculous........ If you're born gay that would mean god created you gay...... thus god wanted you to be gay...... So god created you gay but he doesn't want you to live a gay lifestyle? Then why did he make you gay in the first place?

That's like sending someone being raised all their lives to be a pilot...... for years and years they prepare for it and they're waiting to fly their first plane.... they know that all their lives they've been destined to be a pilot and they're waiting to make their way in the world....... when suddenly they're told that pilots are sinners and tools of the devil. god made you a pilot, but piloting aircraft is a sin and you will go to hell if you take part in the pilot's lifestyle.

I don't say anybody is born gay. You are either born male or female. As you grow older, say in adolescence stage, you realize you have sexual urges. I believe the "product of your environment" theory. If you are brought up with the knowledge and teaching that a man should be with a woman for marriage and sex, then I believe that is what you will search after. If you are in an environment where homosexual activity has taken place or the homosexual lifestyle has been promoted than you may choose that way.

It is a sin o act upon being gay. I am a Christian and i dont hate gays, i love all people because we all make mistakes. Love the sinner, hate the sin. So anyone who says that all Christians hate gays is being just as judgemental as the Christians who do hate gays, more so becuse they are not real Christians. Hate is not part of being a Christian.

The sad fact is that some christians WILL insist that homosexuality is a 'choice', and a 'sin', and they'll use twisted and mistranslated scripture to 'prove' it; and nothing anyone can say will dissuade them.

Which is a little strange, since their God doesn't have any such issues....

There is a huge difference between having an intense desire to behave in a certain way and actually acting on it. People are not sin. People commit sin.
