Hey, you've got a Preacher Dinosaur for an avatar. Niceeee...
Points to whoever gets that joke. =D
And my religion doesn't give a damn about rights. We harm none-if everyone followed my religion, we'd all be happy, fluffy, ridiculously sparkly people right now. No wars, no famine... dear gods, we'd all be communists. Only sans the psychotictry behind all that.

Love that avatar NH! As a Buddhist there are no limitations to the rights of human beings to be free of all suffering so I really can't say that Buddhists would remove anything. Additions are so many I can't even list them all: stop torture, stop war, stop anything that causes suffering to another person and yourself.....it actually makes me teary-eyed just thinking about it. Great question.
Very coy with the avatar today NH.........

Taoism is not an administrative religion and says little on the subject. Living with wisdom and compassion is recommended... but we are free to live our lives as we please and let others live theirs.
When the Master governs, the people
are hardly aware that he exists.
Next best is a leader who is loved.
Next, one who is feared.
The worst is one who is despised.
If you don't trust the people,
you make them untrustworthy.
The Master doesn't talk, he acts.
When his work is done,
the people say, "Amazing:
we did it, all by ourselves!"

Many people suffer from an incorrect relationship to God or to the Divine. When this happens, the concept of God displaces their personality. This make people angry and frustrated.
But people don't know any better. They blame themselves. When they get tired of blaming themselves, they blame others. Then it becomes easy to remove human rights from others, too.
To have a correct relationship to God or to the Divine requires not listening to religious preachers or priests. It requires grwoing very quiet and listening to the voice of your soul.
When you slow down and listen to you soul, you are being kind to yourself. You will laugh at your funny human mind, which leaps to new things, and you will feel kinder toward the world.
When you feel kind, you freely give respect and right to all people. Nothing can disturb you, because you focus on the quiet voice of your own soul.
Kindness is the beginning of wisdom. Practice kindness, and you will know God. But begin your kindness, with you.

I would love to see equal rights for all. The bias against homosexuals needs to end. They should be able to enjoy the same rights and privileges as anyone else. For a country that claims to be so progressive and free, we sure don't show it.
