Definitely some brain washing going on. That said, it is less the religion as it is the circumstances. Muslim extremist leaders can't fight the rest of the world in any technological or military-based way, so they resort to extreme measures. History is full of suicide attacks, and they were not always Islamic. They were, however, always the desperate side doing whatever it could to beat a much superior force.

Because it takes a person with an IQ of 35 to realize that the Media targets Islam and Muslims. Why would the Media report such occurences about other religions? Its goal is to exploit Islam. However, the Media spreads false rumors, gross exaggerations, inaccurate information, misleading articles, etc. about Islam and Muslims and force massive amounts of people in the west to believe in their way, and only giving their side of the story blinds the people. Why would the American Media (which is run by Jews, look it up anywhere) exploit Jewish atrocities or Christian instances? They always report the bad things going in the Middle East, and poorly. The Media doesn't care about the truth, it cares about the money, and lying and distorting the truth is not an uncommon way to attract viewers.
Islam truly is a religion of peace and love and tolerance, but since people have adopted their televisions as their teachers, no one would ever believe that. fifimsp2 had some good examples of non-Muslims comitting terrorism.
Like I said before, the Media would never exploit any other religion other than Islam, and when they attempt to do it, they are successful in making people believe in their point of view--which is choc full of lies, distortions, fabrications, and misleading information about Islam. After all, terorism, violence, murder, etc. are strongly CONDEMNED in Islam, contrary to popular belief. Unfortunately, the massive affect the Media has on the west forces people to think otherwise.
Consider Bill P's answer.
Also, I strongly recommend watching this video, it should clear a LOT of things up.

Though I must agree with MoonUnit (Now that her heathen ways are corrupting me, and causing me to begin thinking, and analyzing more, instead of just judging! hahaha)
One thing that is not addressed here in the aspect of leadership is the actual Polity itself...
I pastor a church in Northern Vermont, as well as an online church...
But does that mean that I as a Shepherd, or my Sheep follow the same process and methods of herding the flock as do other Shepherds? No.
My Job as an "Under-Shepherd" is to follow the ways of the "Great Shepherd" Jesus Christ.
Same rings true with Islam, Judaism, and the other religions (faiths)
Do not many Islamic leaders stand against well known Jihadists as being incorrect in their ways?
Are there not Rabbi's that hold a dissenting opinion to those Scholars that they feel are in error?
Ask a Catholic if there are Priests that might view the Vatican's issues as contrary to the good of the parish!
As a Pastor, do I agree with the Hagee's, Hinn's, Falwell's, Osteen's, and many others of my faith? No.
The squeakier wheels of a faith get the most media attention, and thus the general populace is lead to believe that the local assemblies of believers are mirror images of of the ones presented in the biased media!
I have met many Atheists that disagree with the "Rational Response Squad". yet many believe that the RSS speaks for all Atheists!
We must remember that the local church is autonomous no matter the faith. We must remember that the individual believer is autonomous no matter the faith. Local churches, parishes, synygogues, mosques, and their individual believers may or may not agree with those who give the appearence of "Speaking For" a particular faith or religion.
Such is the case here at yahoo Q&A. The trolls here propigate the Social Class War of "Us vs. Them" constantly, which leads those less likely to understand that there is a steep division between the peoples of the world, where in fact there really is not.
There are Atheists, Christians, Jews, Muslims, and the like here, that sit baffled wondering where some folks come up with the questions that are posted here, and wonder as well where they are getting their theological information about their particular faith!
What is there to gain by choosing or spreading the propaganda of the fringe radical, who never has, or never will be in line with the mainstream of the so-called "System of belief/non-belief" that they so loudly espouse?
Having a religious difference is one thing, but to spread that difference into secular society in the hopes of causing anarchy to prostylize others into your religious belief, is not the approved method of any of the mainstream religions, and those that do so certainly do such without the consent of the majority.

You need to open up your history books to the religious wars and religious practices against those disagreed with either the Catholic view or the protestant views. The 30 years war, an attempt to regain the protestant world for Catholicism is virtually the most awful war that ever occurred in the western world.
Compare that to the Cromwellean revolution in England and you find quite the same (and that happened right about the same time as the 30 years war).
Christian does not necessarily mean kinder and gentler

Probubly yes, but it has been the ever going battle, religion, the power of it causes wars and has for centries, and will for many more to come. These people who strap bombs on themselves are full of what they believe is right and for their faith, just as what christians think is right for their faith. Everyone thinks their choice of religion is the ONE, the right one, w/o respecting other religions, hence the ever disagreement and war after war. And for their leaders not doing this, is the same reason your leader or my leader or our leader doesn't go first hand to stand for what they send soldiers to do. Not one country or leader is innocent to this.

Love? Plenty of those systems talk about love. Hasn't brought them together though. Seems that your analysis is incorrect, love has not brought them together. I think your assessment that we need love rather than open debate is also incorrect. Every belief system should be challenged by every other belief system. Though it would be nice if everyone could be nicer to each other while doing so, but some of them have ideas that make them mutually exclusive, these ought to be challenged as well.

Abortion Clinics blown up and abortion doctors murdered. Jews invaded cities in the 'promise land' and killed every man, woman and child in the city. Buddist monks committed suicide by setting fire to themselves to protest the Viet Nam War. I've never heard of Atheists doing anything like this. Religion often makes people do things that are incredibly inhumane and cruel. This is because religion can be justified by the claim that whatever god commands is right. Atheist, having no god or gods, cannot make this claim.

Explanation as follows:
Christians and Jews believe in the sanctity of life. We don't kill to make a political point. If anyone is a Christian and blows up a building, we condemn him and send him to "old Sparky."
Buddhists believe in Kharma and reincarnation and killing innocent people invokes major negative karma.
It is always the nobodies that blow themselves up, because they have lost hope and the extremists imams or spiritual leaders keep telling them that they'll get into paradise.
However, the Q'uran considers killing anyone who is not carrying a weapon as an innocent, and killing innocent people will send you to hell.
The Imams have too much money and influence to just throw away their lives. That's why they don't do it.

Those who blame the christians in return are extremely lame. The bible rejects these acts as un-christian. The Qur'an however supports terror openly if you even bother to read it up.
Problem is many of us don't!

If you even have the hardworking streak in you to find out the truth. Those who commit acts of murder in the name of Xtianity are not christians. And people who accuse christians of similar acts of shamelessness like the muslims are in actuality trying to justify shames with shame.
So, the muslims suicide bomb all over the place and it is okay cos you fellas accuse christianity of supporting the same it doesn't? How very lame.
So you shiit in your pants cos you think your neighbor pissed in his and so you want to be left alone to continue shitting in your pants? I'm sure some of these nutheads here don't understand this simple analogy.

There are plenty of christians that blow up abortion clinics, saying that murder is wrong. Atheists can sometimes be too indifferent to their world, and that further jades countless others. The bigger picture here might be painted with currency. What else do they have for the most part? Honor is big for people without much else. Try to watch the movie 300 and not see the nobility of self sacrifice. It's all about perspective I suppose. Lastly, think of the U.S. as the "Wal-Mart" and the rest of the world as "Mom and Pop" stores, haha.
