The quote is loosely from the Epitaph of Leonard P. Matlovich, died 1988.

I think that is perfectly moral.

Killing an enemy is a moral defense.

Having sex with someone of your own sex is a moral terpitude.

I see morality there. I guess Leonard P. Matlovich just didn't see it.

Morality is defined as "doing right" despite the consequences.

Thats funny!
I don't agree with homosexuality though either.
But I think if we had an entire army of gay men, the men of the middle east would have run screaming before we ever got there. There is comedian who has a joke about that but I can't remember his name.
He states; "You think they were scared because they thought we would torture and kill them? Thats nothing, tell them the whole army loves your butt and takes prisoners. That would have scared the hell out of them." Thats not the literal quote but the idea is the same. Funny stuff.

It's kind of odd that other countries have openly gay people in the military without a problem, but for some reason, people think if people are openly gay in the US military, all hell will break lose.

How about letting people do their jobs without fear that their true self might be found out? How about supporting the troops no matter what?

The military is one of the slowest institutions to change and has a long proud history of trying to be the ultimate symbol of manliness.

In other words its a institution guided by back water ideals that has no idea about its own history.

Happy is the city that dreams of war in times of peace.

The military is not immoral in itself. Its ethical value can only be measured in how it is used.

Yes. Unfortantely it is. What's considered right and just in society is not always the same in the military. I'm not condoning anything at all though, but that's just how it is.

that's why I got out, and an honorabnle discharge at that--I laughed, "For Honest and faithful service" it says--If I'd been honest I would have been kicked out long before that--why fight for a country that doesn't want you as a citizen? There are no federal anti-dioscimination laws, no legal marriages--they don't even want to use you as cannon fodder--liberty and justice for all, except us

I seem to remember that the US Army tested nuclear fallout on our own troops back in the 50's.

And then again there is that pesky business where they exterminated whole villages of American Indians way back too.....

Hey, if people want to be gay, then fine.
But lets not forget the function of the military!!
It is to KILL people. Loving other men just gets in the way.

We can't have openly gays in the militairy. It would cause chaos. Men and women alike would want the gays to be be grouped together so the heterosexuals wouldn't have to shower or sleep near them. Then the gays would sue because they were being segregated. It would be utter chaos.
