Can you refuse to pay? Dont leave a tip? Make them cut it again when it grows out? Free highlights? Help! I usually just grin and bare it but once I leave complain to anyone who will listen. Can I cause a sceen? (and can they kick me out or force me to pay?)

Whether you just don't like or it really is a horrible cut, still pay. You don't have to leave a tip that's your choice, but do pay because this person did spend time and that money does not go to that person.

If the person did a horrible job, make sure someone there knows that. I have my hair cut at Fantastic Sams and there are a few people who know how to cut hair and some don't, so when I go in I make sure I have a particular person cut my hair.

Also, you should tell the manager. I tell my hairdressers all the time that my hair is curly, so if they cut an inch off it's like taking off 2 inches when it curls and if you tell your hairdresser something like that and they don't listen, then you need to tell the manager of the store.

And always remember to be nice. Don't let your anger cause you to call names and such, because maybe this person did spend a lot of time and money to get where they are and you don't want to insult someone with name calling. You don't want regret later.

you have the right to refuse to pay if the person didn't cut your hair right. I once brought a picture of a haircut I wanted and it was suppose to be shoulder length the girl cut my hair up to my ears, i was pregnant and fat and I cried i just walked out crying without paying and never went back.

dont give them a tip, love. Calmly explain that your not happy with it, when they ask you what you think. is it that thy cut it too short? if so then they cant fix that, so demand a reduced fee, or demand that you dnt have to pay at all. if the layers are wrong then demand that they fix it with more cutting. if they refuse to give you a reduced fee then just explain that there;s no way your paying them for giving you exactly what you didnt want, and walk out . dont go back to the same stylist

That happened to me. I went to a new place and i just nodded my head when she asked if it was ok. But she could tell by my look that i hated it. She was really young and just out of school. I just paid for it but left no tip. I didn't see any point in making her feel bad. I just scrunched my hair so you couldn't see how badly she cut it. You couldn't even tell. But when i got home i cried lol But just tell yourself its just hair and it WILL grow back. Good Luck!

Personally I think if you ensure that you make it clear at the beginning EXACTLY what you want, then if you do not get it, you are well within your rights not to pay because you didn't get what you asked for! However the proper etiquette is probably to politely tell them it is not what you wanted and see the outcome...

Yes, politely report it to the salon manager. As the stylist's leads you to the cash register, tell her politely that you would like to speak to the Salon Manager or the person currently on duty--hopefully it's not her :D
