It does jab a little here and there, but it doesn't hurt nearly as bad as a toothache from a rotten tooth.

I was afraid to when i had my filling the last month, cos i have been always postponing to see the dentist. It was a terrible thing to do so, cos the teeth might worsen. I only had terrible experiences with dentist until this year that i am seeing another dentist. Today was actually my last visit. I had 12 fillings and 2 root canals. From a girl who just went through the dentist, i have to say i rough through it all. The dentist would give you an injection which to me was the most difficult part of the whole dental procedure. I fear needles. Whenever, the dentist need drilling, the assistant would adjust the laughing gas. It doesnt hurt during procedure. Once the numbness is over, you will feel pain. Take a pain-reliever and rest. I had 4 flling today, and i feel sore now.

PS. I try to share my experience, so i can put you at ease. You have to believe that you will do just fine. Focus more on the solution than the situation. I will pray for you. Hope you do well. There is nothing to fear as God is always near.

I never got laughing gas. I'm not big on pain either, and to be honost with you, the part of the procedure that hurt the most was the shot which he gave me in my gum to numb my mouth. It doesn't even hurt that bad, just like a little pinch. I never had the laughing gas though, so I really don't know what that is like. When my dentist numbed my mouth, I couldn't feel anything he was doing, and the procedure didn't really take that long. Mine only took 20-30 mins. The bad part is, however, that the numbing doesn't go away instantly after the procedure. So everytime I drank something, the liquid started to drizzle out of my mouth. haha But, that's pretty much the worse part. So, to answer your question; no it does NOT hurt to get fillings. I hope I helped and good luck!

The dentist will give you a shot of novacane and it'll feel like a pinch and then your mouth will numb in that area. It'll be uncomfortable and your tooth might feel a little achy once the novacane wears off, but just take some Tylenol before it does and you'll be fine. Don't worry so much and get it taken care of. I wouldn't bother with the laughing gas--novacane is much safer and it's not all that bad.

No it totally doesn't hurt...you might get the shot to numb you..that's the most painful part. The rest, you won't feel anything. So don't worry about it.
Good luck

Hey, fillings don't hurt much anymore, even without novicane or laughing gas. It's like cutting your toe nails or brushing your teeth with a "hard" toothbrush. Don't worry. Living without teeth is much more painful than having them filled.
