A lot of good resources will appear in the answers above. When you feel ready, you could possibly go on a trip to a Canadian City (east coast is best, I think) or possibly you know of a local city which is large enough to have a french quarter. I say this, because you can only learn so much in books and private study on the internet and total immersion is needed to learn a language really quicky..

A good resource for learning french is found on the BBC website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/french/index.shtml?survey=no&url=www.bbc.co.uk/languages/french/index.shtml&site=languagesfrench&js=yes

In addition to a tutorial on learning to write, speak and think in french, there are a number of puzzles, sample spoken words and games designed to reinforce your learning (as opposed to just mechanically saying the odd word here and there). There are even video podcasts there as well.

Bon chance, mon ami

Salut
