It will not be too much, you will probably have just a little left over and when entertaining it is ALWAYS better to have a little extra than not enough. There is no way at all to plan it to have JUST enough and you don't want to do that either. I would definately make the whole pound or you won't have enough.

You'll have leftovers, but just eat it for lunch tomorrow. I usually cook a pound of spaghetti for my family of four, but when I make chicken parmesean, there's always leftovers because everyone gets filled up due to also having chicken. You're doing a salad and garlic bread, so you will definitely have leftovers. FYI- a serving size of pasta is only 2 ounces, so we Americans eat portions way too big. I use salad plates for dinner to cut down our portions. Your plate looks full, but you're eating less.

One pound of dried pasta can easily feed 4 people, and possibly have leftovers. After all, you're probably adding more stuff to it, and there will be side dishes.
I've heard that an actually serving of pasta (FDA) is only 2 oz. But usually people eat about 4-5 oz. It'll be just fine.

The Nutritional Facts Label has the recomended srevings.
Mine says 2oz so yes 16oz = 8 servings.
Use only 1/2 the pkg
If it IS good you may have a little left over.

Try an 8 oz. pkg. This way you'll limit the amount everyone eats. People tend to eat less, when there is less.
