How about this, it's not so simple, some of those 100,000 people you speak of were taught this funny little thing in BCT called Loyalty, Duty, Selfless sacrifice, Honor, Personal courage, Respect, and most importantly Integrity, something that you don't know. They said they would answer there country's needs and that's just what they do.
Or how about most reservist did it for the 'free' college, and if they don't report, not only do they loose there free college, they also owe the government for the college money they were already given.
Add in the fact that they will also loose, ALL VA BENEFITS, including free medical for the 2 years after returning, free mental health for the rest of there lives, a 4% fixed home owners intress rate, you try finding that civilians. They loose it all. Plus there's always the Jail as someone else mentioned as well.

you report because it is you responsibility to do so. You signed a contract, and you must fulfill it.
as a member of the Armed Forces, you donlt have th eluxury of making policy and deciding what you will and will not do. you do as you are ordered, plain and simple.
and you do so because there are far too many people who would rather spout off on an anonymous forum rather than actually contribute to society by serving their country.

If 100,000 soldiers placed their political opinion ahead of their sworn duty to the US Constitution - our republic would dissolve into a dictatorship.
The main reason that those people will go is simple: On their worst day they are better people than you can ever hope to be.

if you think that refusing to serve will end the conflict with Islamic fundamentalism, you're likely right.
of course, you'll personally have to learn Arabic and bow down five times a day to Mecca.
If you're female, you'll not be able to vote, drive a car, or hold a job. You'll take orders from your husband/father/brother and be beaten if you don't obey.
Your Imam will become the source of all important news and knowledge ... he'll tell you what to think and who to kill.
Oh, wait ... you don't want that at all.
Umm, dude/chica ... bullies do not stop being bullies until someone stands up and says stop or die. And then follows up with bullets if that's their choice.
Since this is the plain truth and we seem to need more soldiers, I suggest the capitalist solution -- double your taxes (not mine) so we can double soldier's pay and benefits and thus attract another 250,000 mostly men into the services.
:-)

You would report because you signed a contract that said you would. You are not fighting an endless war. Sure it takes time to accomplish some things and no, not every one is happy that we are in Iraq, but guess what we are so everyone needs to just get over it.

You signed your name: You swore to uphold the Constitution (But I'm straying)
Just like the rest of the component of the military, you put your life on hold and go do your job somewhere else.
Because Uncle Sam said so.
So that liberals, and anti war activist (not forgetting Hollywood celebrities) can have the right to their free speech!

It's so hard for a liberal to understand that there are people out there who actually want to be part of the US Military. If you're too scared to sign up then you need to shut up. these people are proud to serve their country unlike some people.
