The 2nd questions should be how much is it 'making'?

War is great for employment and industry

This question is bound to generate a lot of very simplistic answers. What exactly do you mean when you refer to 'war'? Does this include wars of agression, which are by their very nature inherently unnecessary? Do you mean all kinds of military operations, in which case are you including such activities as peace support operations, emergency/disaster relief, multi-national exercises, etc? Are you asking how much the nations of the world spend on defence? That could probably be worked out, although I suspect the final answer would be such a large sum as to be meaningless to most people's imagination.

The answer I suspect you're looking for is 'too much', but how would you quantify that? I would agree that any expenditure on defence is taking away resources which could be better used for human advancement or preserving the planet. However, any suggestion of abolishing defence establishments entirely would be very naive, as you would once again come up against that old drawback, human nature. Defence spending can be done away with entirely when all the nations of the world agree to resovle their disputes by peaceful means (or, better still, when the nation as a concept is abolished). However, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

There will never be peace. To many people have to much to lose. More spent on War and Combating Global Warming than what people really need.

The money the U.S.A spends, I did`nt think there was that amount of money in the world. Most countries pro-rata spend obscene amounts. They all seem to find money for wars. do you agree

Excellent point on spending more on the disabled, elderly, and food...

Now, if we could only get everyone who doesn't like the US to do that, just strip away their capacity to attack us or those people and resources we need to survive everything would be great.

Even better if we could get them to believe rationally and look out for themselves instead of killing their daughters for showing interest in boys or killing people who just don't agree with them.

Then, if they change the way they think and believe then we wouldn't need to be prepared to fight them when they decide we need to believe their way and kill our women for being their own person or they will kill us.

Excellent points all.
