Trying to order something online. Is it the number under the credit card number or the number in the signiture box in the back, or what am I missing here?

Typically this is the number on the BACK of the credit card ... at the end of the SIGNATURE panel strip.

It's the 3 digit number located on the signature strip of the back of the card

Depends upon the card you're using. MC and Visa use the 3-digit code on the sig block on the back of the card. Other cards vary -- Amex puts it on the front of the card for example.

The security number is on the back, by where you sign the card. You need that, in addition to the card number shown on the front.
