Since so many fundamentalist groups are dead set against both adoptions by gay and lesbian parents AND are pro-life, what do you think the result would be if all Christian fundamentalist families were required by law to adopt at least one child, or would have one assigned to them by Social Services agencies?

lots of children would be getting abused--that's what happens when a child is forced upon parents who don't want them

They wouldn't do that. Many evangelicals wouldn't want to adopt and there shouldn't be an obligation for anybody to adopt if they don't want to. I plan to adopt even if I can have biological children. I want to bring a child into my house and provide a family for him/her. I'm Pro-choice, by the way. I think we should let gay people adopt because they deserve the right to be parents too like we straight people have.

I am an adoptee.

I feel badly for the children who would be assigned to different families. It is bad enough that their natural parents didn't want them but then to place them with a family who would be obligated to take them...well.. that just isn't right.

I understand your point and i think it is ridiculous that people are against gays adopting but being an adopted child I have to think of the child's well being

Poor kids...I don't like the idea at all, just think of all the religious indoctrination they will pour over the children in their care. Anti-discrimination legislation is a much better idea all round, equality is the only moral way through the civil rights maze.

And what makes you think that we don't already have adopted children from the State? I have sought children from the State. Your question shows your ignorance as to Christians and their willingness to adopt. In fact I would estimate that Christians do most of the adoptions in this country.

thank you!! im a Roman Catholic and i am pro-choice and agree that gays should adopt...look my opinion is that gays wont go to hell. why do some decide to choose a certain sin to go to hell???? it's not right!!! the only way you go to hell is to deny God's existence! if someone wants to love a child [not talking about pedophilia here] what's the harm??? also i agree about you concerning them being pro-life! if you are against contraception and against abortion, pull your weight!!! when you tell them not to abort, you should say hey let me adopt the kid!!! i agree with you 100%%%%

I think that assigning children to those types of families may be considered child abuse.

EDIT: Dang it all, Reigan beat me to it!

I think that's a GREAT idea. Of course it would cause the decline of the human race...catch 22

We'd have a new generation of brain-washed fundies to dael with. I don't think our tax dollars can afford that.

We need more scientists, not more preachers.

It would be cruel to place a baby in a fundie home. We should promote knowledge not ignorance.
