There is a saying: "Choose your enemys well, because it is they who you shall become." Does anyone know the exact quote and the source of that quote?

All I can find is that it's Goethe.

OR, "Choose your enemies well because you will become them" which seems to be an old Arab proverb. "Choose your enemies wisely, for you will become them." (unknown source)

"Choose your enemies carefully. Sooner or later you begin to look like them" (unknown source)
